Yeah I get why that’s true, but it’s a pure physical Tactician. I’ll double check my numbers because I know I have some decent physical resists, but I just try to look out for that crap I guess.
Indeed, Titan feels redundant.
I don’t see Crane being relevant in my build (S&B), I don’t need yellow orbs. Owl is a bit awkward but has purple orbs as a reward (20 needed for Oleron). Boar and Solemn Watcher are basically good per se.
Shieldmaiden, Targo and the Obelisk are great for S&B, but since you have soldier you probably run overguard
I like to bump this thread, as today i noticed (didnt play with this character for some time) that i’m casually taking 8000+ damage per second for a freaking 16 seconds just for an accidental hit cause i have 250% extra duration on my internal trauma. Otherwise my character is an extremely tanky Spellscourge Battlemage.
Even if i pay lots of attention for reflecters, my meteors still hit them as i can’t just stop them after casting it. Seriously there needs to be something done with trauma damage reflection. Reflect damage is already modaretly dangeous for any auto attacker, but taking 16*8000+ damage is just obscene.
As of right now, you can stack x% Reflected Damage Reduction to make it more manageable (manageable being 1000 or 2000 Trauma per sec instead of 8000) but beyond that, I wouldn’t mind seeing damage taken from reflect or physical retaliation toned down.
Edit: I just noticed you said you’re playing a Battlemage as well. Keep in mind you can nullify the Trauma DoT off of you or nullify a Reflective enemies shield buff. Enemies can no longer spawn with % damage reflect as an equipment stat as it has been removed from all affixes so it’s not passive anymore, just a buff that lasts some amount of time (usually 5 seconds or so).
Anecdotally, I also noticed last that I’m taking significantly more damage from Reflect hero’s and mobs than I did prior to 1.1.8.0 - on the same character. Especially on Undead/Skeleton mobs and heros.
I’ve got 52% Reflected Damage reduction on aggregate, so the damage isn’t sufficient to risk killing me unless I’m careless - but it’s noticeable. Especially since in the previous patch, my health bar didn’t even move killing the same mobs.
Has there been some change to the Reflect calculations, or the behavior of Reflect with regard to damage absorption etc?
Are you sure about this? Because I was taking reflect damage from non-hero Undead mobs last night… Just regular shield-bearing undead trash mobs. I don’t recall doing in the many months of the previous patches.
Skeletal knights have a self-buff that reflects some amount of damage, that’s probably what you were seeing.
Assuming that’s the case - why would I only now see it occuring, after many months of farming those same mobs with the same character largely unchanged?
May be it equipped a shield has flat retaliation affixes (overlord, of thorns, vegenance…)
Also it has a skill that reflects flat dmg and % dmg
15% Damage Reflected
493 Piercing Retaliation

I was taking Internal Trauma damage, same as normal Reflective heroes - would regular affixes do that?
They can still roll Retaliation damage on their shields (and are more likely to do so as their shields are Retaliation items, they seem to attract them more often because of ithe affix attract change awhile back).
In particular, Physical Retaliation is deadly for characters with low resistance to it, to primarily melee attackers (ranged/caster attacks won’t trigger it) or any build running melee-based player-pets like Guardians of Empyrion, Raise the Dead, Deathstalker etc. as these will trigger it repeatedly and transfer the damage back to you. If it rolls on an equipment piece, there’s no way to tell at first glance.
% Damage Reflected is also effected by ranged/caster attacks (and likely why Conlan is dying to his Meteors still falling if I had to guess) like the aura Smitherson and holystar88 mentioned is no longer available to the players except 1 or 2 thematic places (this is not a new development, it was done long, long ago), but it cannot come on affixes, thus you’ll always see it coming with enemies on timed buffs. Reflective heroes usually have a yellow shield around them while it is up I believe, you can either nullify it or wait it out.
