Way back in the day I played quite a bit of Titan Quest which I enjoyed a lot. I followed this game for a short time at the start of the development cycle but I admit I did lose interest pretty quickly even though I always intended to pick the game up once it was finished.
For a while I would check in on the progress every now and then but wasn’t patient enough and started coming back less frequently. But I was pleasantly surprised when I heard it finally released. And upon getting it have to say I’m ecstatic. I’m not really sure what I expected, probably something like a new Titan Quest with different maps and skill trees, but the amount of fun I’m having with the gameplay has blown me away.
I have about a dozen characters now ranging from level 15 to 60, I should try and concentrate on a single character more but there is always something else to try out. I’m loving the different number of combinations, abilities and ways you can play the game. I think the challenging but fair level of difficulty is great, and all the little decisions seem well designed. The Crucible is an excellent addition, it gives the feeling of playing Hardcore without needing to go hardcore. I also find the story really interesting and well suited to this kind of game. To me this is now the best “Diablo clone” I have played.
