I realize this might sound super petty but is there any hope that spears might get reversed at some point? They’re backwards and it’s legitimately driving me more insane than the tinnitus I got at the metal show last night.
If you can figure out how to do it, I’ll be sure to fix it.
how do you import them? by copying the .msh from titan quest or can we access a format that we can open in a model editor?
if the .msh is a readable format that we can see its numbers easily but there isnt a converter around, it should be possible to reverse or switch one axis.
p.s. I am playing this. are bows and staves are in? I am still in the early game, havent dropped any. only spears. (edit: marksmanship requires a gun so I suppose they arent :p)
also, on another char I did the mistake of starting with hunter. now I am facing lots of things and my only skill is single target. any plans on adding aoe to earlier levels/skills?
edit2: I can see staves on shops etc., but still haven’t dropped any.
hi man, i only wanted to say that darius cronly dont scale with players lvl, for example in normal he is only lvl 35 dont know, if its important but i want to say it to u
Work your way up to gouge/puncture shot, then to volley/scattershot. I can verify that hunter is very much possible in grimarillion, I spent the weekend playing one up to level 45.
As to the msh, to import them they have to be hex-edited from TQ msh files, then the import (usually) works. I have noooo idea what you can do with the msh files because I don’t have a model editor.
The hunting mastery can be very slow in the begining, but there are few key skills if you max, you will be more comfortable. IMO the first 2 you have to max before all others are Gouge and Herbal Remedy.
I dont have the game open now, but I am using a spear, so I suppose scattershot is a gun only skill and unavailable to me(I dont know if it is, I just remember a gun only skill – sorry if this is not the case, i will get it then). I think I only get gouge for aoe?
well if we can parse the .msh file, we can swap the numbers to change the axis(irrelevant), or multiply them by -1 to rotate(relevant)
It looks like people can convert TQ .msh to .obj and back, but the links were broken. If you can convert them and back, you can do this easily without a model editor.
the basic idea is, to rotate a “box” of size 1x2x3(height 3, width 2 len 1), centered at 0,0,0, the vertex data for .obj is:
-1.0 -0.5 +0.0
-1.0 +0.5 +0.0
+1.0 +0.5 +0.0
+1.0 -0.5 +0.0
-1.0 -0.5 +3.0
+1.0 -0.5 +3.0
+1.0 +0.5 +3.0
-1.0 +0.5 +3.0
you can for example multiply the values by -1 to have it rotated 180 degrees horizontally
+1.0 +0.5 -0.0
+1.0 -0.5 -0.0
-1.0 -0.5 -0.0
-1.0 +0.5 -0.0
+1.0 +0.5 -3.0
-1.0 +0.5 -3.0
-1.0 -0.5 -3.0
+1.0 -0.5 -3.0
Ofc theres the coordinate system issue, so I don’t know which axis you’d need to do this on. The logic of “multiply some axis by -1 to rotate” should stand. you’d get it right in 3 tries. I dont know if there are normals on the file, for those you’d need to do the same exact thing, otherwise it will look inside out, which will be easy to identify.
I found a link on the TQ forum that includes converter to .csv and back, that would make this easy. but all the links on that are broken. that also would’ve made this easy since you’d just multiply the numbers by -1 on the csv
this was the link
it is probably not worth the effort to do this on .msh files unless someone is already familiar with the structure, but if someone has a parser, or if you can turn them into obj or back, this is the method.
at this point I am posting this as a “keep this in mind if you face a similar issue as an alternative to opening hundreds of models in the editor and fixing them by hand” since I am not familiar with TQ’s tooling.
If you have the converters available, I can write a parser to do this, should be just a few lines. but once you have them in plain text you can probably do that too
I got to gouge, but even that is 3 targets, and thats like the only aoe(maybe we can count the summon spell as aoe too?) For most of the game its fine, but it gets to a point where I am facing 50+ monsters. Its not that I die or something, they can’t even attack all at once anyways. but it turns into “hold the mouse down even though you have the dps”
Indeed its the only AoE skill you can relay early on. Thats why i was advocating on buffing the TQ masteries a bit.
Yes for spears there is little aoe unless you pair the mastery with something else like defense. That’s one of the focus points for when I add more skills.
As for the msh, no guarantees. I’ll take a look but I don’t have the patience for that
please consider adding a skill like the one in terror knight, at lv 1, it has a skill with the war cry icon, and its basically “deal x vitality damage for y seconds in z meters”
it inflicts every monster in that radius, no “x targets maximum”
it is probably easier for you guys to balance it too, since the balance won’t change with the number of monsters.
edit: engage from terror knight doesnt work with spears, requires mace and such. is this intended? there is no text indicating this, but I didnt read the forum threads of those.
Can’t say what Ceno intended or not.
As for the suggestion, I’ll see. I have a few ideas that could work, when I get to that point I’ll see how it goes.
I assume that Zenith has no spears, that case only happened when merging the mods, so chances are he never intended anything here…
Since you guys work together on this, he should consider the items types from Grim Quest and add them to the skills in Zenith where it makes sense to him, even if these types never drop in Zenith
This is what I would hope for, it’s one of the advantages Grimarillion has, and a large issue with DAIL. GQ spears/staffs might as well not be in DAIL for how much support they have.
I’ll enable it in the next release of Zenith, thanks!
He really should…
Edit: If anyone else finds any skills (in Zenith or even in Cornucopia) that you feel should work with Spears/Staves, let me know (here or in the related mod threads) and I’ll probably enable them.
well, I didn’t have enough damage to test it but does the auto-attack/proc skill work? like the weapon tree of terror knight. It didn’t have any effects or anything. I didn’t have enough points in it to see variation in my damage, so I don’t know if it doesn’t work, or is just normal
Assuming you’re referring to Banish, yes, it should work with Spears as it has no distinct weapon requirements. And it does have effects; it applies Fire Strike’s FX on enemies when you hit them.
Outlander + Nightblade = OutlanderNightblade
Here’s a few ideas for ya:
Sniper
Assassin
Outlaw
Hitman
Brigand
Pariah
Sojourner
I like Outlaw and Hitman.
I really enjoy Grimarillion right now, but I was wondering if it was possible to merge with good looking mod?
Just tried but can’t seems to get the little crate to drop from the body.
I’ve testing Grimmarilliony. I noticed the top left of the screen still reads 'grimmest;, is this normal? I have noticed increased monster density still.
Also, i’m only half way through act I, but I think you guys went a bit overboard on the cultists. There are always 2 or 3 hero cultists which summon an endless army of hellfiends, while also poisoning and casting weakness hexes. They’re borderline impossible, depending on their combination. I’ve encountered a regenerator and arcanist just before reaching the Strange Key gate, this is what I end up going against:
Yes many areas can be downright impossible, you have to try and isolate one or two heroes first.
