My cities been cruising for a few dozen years, steadily expanding. My economy is adequate, my military does the job, my material supply is great and I have 20 labor, 20 builders with a 400 pop. About 35% of my housing are condemned and another 20% are nearly there. Why aren’t my builders or laborers making this their priority? I have planks I have the things they need and nothing is being done and I have no way of making them repair. I went through a whole year with no headway, I deleted planned wall projects, cancelled upgrades. Has anyone experienced this? What can I do?
With a 400 population I would think you should have more laborers. If the laborers number is in brown instead of white, you don’t have enough. Do you have a good supply of planks and bricks? You can try moving the houses that aren’t condemned to the same spot which will repair them. You might need to use the clear function to get rid of the condemned buildings.
If you are also building a lot of new structures, the repairs will be put off until all new construction is done. Pause it and let them repair
Ok. Figured something out. My school, healer and pub were all condemned then repaired. The large houses surrounding these became/were condemned as well. The school, pub and healer were all repaired but the houses remained in the same abandoned state. Looking into the school, pub and healer all of these productions were toggled off post repair. I filled their slots and the houses fairly quickly became repaired and are good to go. So it looks like a builder might not even try to repair a building if it had no chance of meeting its previous desirability. I might be way off, just trying to put into words what I just saw happen. Hopefully someone can correct or affirm this.
Working as intended.
