I have many fields in my settlement, and every year I have to remove 15+ settlers from one field and place the same 15+ settlers on another. Is it possible to recruit settlers by entering the required number instead of using “±”?
Why are you having to remove them? And that sounds like way too many to have on a field. What size is it?
Maximum 32 people, but I put 15 or 16 people.
Why do you have to remove them though?
I’m trying to get the 100% happiness achievement in a level 4 settlement on Conqueror, and I don’t have enough food if I don’t have enough fields. If I only use a few fields (2-3), I don’t have enough because they quickly lose fertility (wheat takes a lot of fertility). I have to use multiple fields in different years to allow the fields to recover. I don’t fully understand how fertility works yet and what combinations maintain field fertility at the proper level. Currently, I have a three-year system: in the first year I use 8 fields, in the second 6, and in the third year also 6 fields. Each year, I have to remove 15 or 16 peasants from one field and move them to another with the same crops so that the remaining fields recover or don’t lose fertility to very low levels (30%+). That’s why I propose adding settlers not with ±, as is the case now, but simply by entering the required number of survivors, as is implemented, for example, in Storerooms, with the choice of the required amount of food or clothing in a specific Storeroom.
But this is just a suggestion. I have 1,000 people in my settlement, and I’m trying to make them happy…
Also has some crop examples which might help you. I hope you’re planting other things besides wheat.
You want to split your fields into 3, with one producing wheat (rye) each year, as well as some carrots, peas, and clover so that the field has a few percentage more fertility after the 3 years it cycles through
Yes, peas, beans, carrots, and another root vegetable, wheat (only wheat, for brewing and bread), and flax (I replenish my clothing and book supplies). I’ll check out the guide; maybe it’ll help.
