resistances for veteran and elite

What resistances shall i focus on in veteran and later on elite?

Is there a single res i should be especially on the lookout for?

Will there be encounters i should especially prepare for res-wise?

Atm clvl 32 mid act2 vet the top row of my res is high, approx. 40% with pierce at 60+.

but the bottom is 0 - only vit bleedin and chaos at several %.

Cheers guys!

Thru normal/Vet… Whatever you get from drops. It isn’t important. Doesn’t matter (unless you are noob/bad to the genre). Perhaps by the end you may wish to boost chaos/vit/poison resists a bit to ease the ending. Still, doesn’t matter that much tho if you can squeeze it in then more power to ya.

In Elite you will want to start taking it more seriously and try to boost all of them.

As for exceptions in Normal, the notable one would be Alkamos at the end of SoT. Cold/frost/freeze resists are helpful. Get some Hoarfrost ointments.

In the latter part of Act 3 and almost all of act 4, vitality and chaos resistance help a lot, especially on bosses.

@poinas - your tq guide to all skils has become “my bible” and still i take a look at it from time to time as now Im planning phantom strike spammer. Maybe you could please produce a similar guide for GD

The most important 2 is poison/acid, vitality and chaos. Or at least thats what I think. I was almost one shot at lvl 32 on normal mode, not even vet while using a warder with very high hp and regen also using a shield because of poison damage. It hits so hard from some bosses so I always slot a few antivenom salvs on gear I know I will be using a long time.

Some bosses like bolvar the bloodbinder and zaria the carver deal veyr high vit and chaos damage and can kill you fast without good survivability. PLus chaos, vit and poison is what the last boss deals so it helps a lot with him too.

As you get to elite I would get some bleed and pierce for cronleys area. I never really need aether resist, I usually onyl get a bit since the only bosses that are an issue with it is commander lucius and cronley but they are still never really an issue if you play carefully. Also elemental resist is easy to get it comes from most gear.

Just farm rep at lvl 50 and you can have almost capped res of them all by elite.

Proper resistances make the game a lot easier so I definitely recommend paying attention to them. Without the right ones, there are some places you can get close to one shot. I generally switch out resistances based on where I go.

I have accidental high resistance to poison (almost always close to max), but that one can actually be pretty strong. I remember encountering a mob that was still doing decent damage at 80% res. So you may want to look at that.

I have issues tracking bleed or vit damage because I have way too much HP regen and it cancels those out.

I stock up on pierce resistance and try to keep it near max because I’m ranged. Especially true for SoT. SoT also has a lot of elemental damage but I seem to do OK with ~40% resistances there.

Chaos and Aether resistance are relatively rare so I tend to stock up on items that carry them. Aether resistance is nice to have in the occasional area (although I am not sure if aether ground is resistable), Chaos is close to necessary in certain specific areas (it’d be pretty trivial to tell where - if there are cultists everywhere and there is a lot of red you probably want Chaos resist).

According to powbam, though, you can just walk right into the Depraved Sanctuary with 0 Chaos Resistance and if you have any issues you’re just a noob. What the hell could I possibly know.

You can walk right in with zero resists and in fact I have, hundreds if not thousands, of times routinely walked in there in the 16-20 level range and cleared it out with no chaos resistances whatsoever.

But what do I know.

Yeah, it’s completely normal to have walked into the same dungeon thousands of times. And have no need for chaos resistance (or vit or w/e) for a challenge dungeon lots of people reported having trouble with.

While having trouble with the Lord Executioner and needing a potion.

There’s absolutely nothing you’re holding back here or twisting.

I’m sure the attitude of “you all who do not have the same experiences as me are just noobs” is very convenient.

Actually it’s your own fault for being the one to read some kind of personal “insult” into my words. A noob references one who is new. Bad references one who is bad at the game, which can go hand in hand with being a noob. It meant nothing more and certainly nothing hostile.

When I say that you do not need resistances in Normal/Vet you will find that many will agree with this more or less, with certain exceptions (most of which have already been covered by us). Also note that I say that if you find some then more power to ya. They certainly won’t hurt but they aren’t absolutely needed either.

Regardless, my post wasn’t made to instigate any combat over the subject but if you want to argue over semantics then be my guest. I’ll be more than happy to throw down with ya but you better come prepared.
