Fyi, 84232 shield drops
Well, thanks for reminding. I’ll do some extra tests with single retal affix shield.
Durable of Thorns, Durable of Blight, imo.
EDIT:
Here comes some extra tests on DE!
Builds, videos and performs:
1.Physical RtA DE Deathknight(Cheaper Shield verion)
SR30-31 - 4:33 (Short rooms)(PTR Feb13): www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhGQ7HRxFpc
Ravager of Minds - 1:47 (PTR Feb13): www.youtube.com/watch?v=wprC3wL1WAY
Tirgan in SR31 - 0:24 (PTR Feb13): www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gEe8Nb2g3w
SR clear time is 4:45ish-5:00ish. Now it is probably on the slower side. Single-target damage is terribly low.
2.Acid RtA DE Oppressor(Cheaper Shield verion)
SR30-31 - 4:31 (Short rooms)(PTR Feb13): www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8d4fdANqv8
Ravager of Minds - 1:27 (PTR Feb13): www.youtube.com/watch?v=TshY3KrRxTE
SR clear time is 4:45ish-5:00ish. Also on the slower side. Single-target damage is low as well by a bit better than the physical one imo.
Analysis and Feedbacks:
Reminded by @banana_peel , I did these extra tests on RtA DE with shield of “possible” affix combo. Damage went into the slower side this time. This is not something surprising because it just lost lots of flat and % retal damage. These results are easy to predict. Two ideas imo can be generated from these results. The first is, Spectral War Shield should have retal bias, because when there is double retal affixes, things seem to be fine. The second is, considering how bad Physical RtA DE is at single-target damage, dialing Vire’s % physical retal damage removal back seems to make more sense.
Overall feels pretty good. Can tank it up with Menhir devotion. This particular run is on a luckier side because I didn’t encounter any resistants, had one short room and all boss rooms were easy to pull together. I think average would be closer to 5 minutes.
In the same vein as “Sentinel of the Three” set not having cast speed:
It’s kinda irritating that there’s not a single lick of speed on the Perdition set.
Especially so, since it blocks the glove slot.
Retaliation devotion maps don’t exactly have a lot of room to fit in cast speed either.
Very lucky run indeed.
Sounds a little slow, if we assume builds should be 4:30ish-4:45ish, especially when it has two mobility skills.
Maybe it’s a bit faster than that, hard to say, not particularly motivated to record a five runner. Can give you a save if you want to try.
Okay. Let me have a try.

It’s missing a rare affix on a ring so Acid overcap is not ideal
Feb 25 retal feedback:
1.Lightning/Fire RtA FOI
Build:
Performance:
SR30-31 - 4:30 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oa_UV38HSpg
This is a lucky run because there were hardly long rooms so there was no wandering around. Generally it would be a little slower.
Comment:
Though I don’t like the nerfs, I have to say that the nerfs didn’t destroy the build but made it stand at a mid position. By wearing more retal gears, damage could remain good, but sustainability dropped a lot. May need some extra HP imo. Anyway, no more nerf is necessary and no buff is acceptable.
2.Acid RtA ABB
Build:
Performance:
SR30-31 - 4:44 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llfaff3ueYg
Comment:
No substantive buff has happen to Acid RtA ABB during patch Feb 25 but it did benefit from acid damage buffs. The most important change is that Abomination has Damage Reduction now so the devotion route becomes much much more comfortable. Slathsarr is still an insurmountable mountain, though. It feels more like an acid damage build rather than am acid retal build but yes, it feels not as bad as it was before. I don’t know whether you devs mean it or not, but good job this time.
3.Acid RtA Vines (Build by Mad_Lee)
Build:
Performance:
SR30-31 - 4:01 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7VbB46Af8M
A very lucky run, very few high acid-res mage monsters. Generally it would be 15-30 seconds slower.
Comment:
Lightning RtA Vines has damage problem, but it seems now that Acid RtA Vines don’t. So it seems that the problem lies with Dawnguard set. Its power concentrates on Light Champion too much. Imo some damage could be moved from Light Champion to Dawnguard set 4-piece bonus. Meanwhile, enemies Life Leech Res change helps with this build’s sustainability. It seems not bad at present. Well done. Thank you devs for that change.
4.Some Retal Shield Affix issue
I did an SnB Fire RtA RF Shieldbreaker but it turned out awful.
Build:
Performance:
SR30-31 - 5:35 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRgfDNwPpG0
Callagadra - can’t hurt it even 10% - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiXUAUt2lUo
Damage is low and tankiness is also rebarbative.
Comment:
This is something that I played during v1.9. Back then It didn’t feel as bad as it is now. Even if I accept its damage, its tankiness is no way an eligible shield retal build. Physical damage defense is very poor. This refers to the major physical res and physical damage changes during v1.2. Let’s consider this: retal builds (especially this one who carries a shield and doesn’t have super good RtA) deals damage by being attacked, so if they can’t tank those attacks, they fail. Neither is this build a kite liberator. I’d like to suggest to add some %phy res to Flamewall (shield prefix) to help its physical damage defense, like what Overlord’s has. And so does Caustic. Physique and Cunning can be removed in that case. I’ll appreciate it if its tankiness issue can be helped.
