finally bought Ashes of Malmoth althought I bought original Grim Dawn for me and a friend since kickstarter.
Watched last night stream from Zentai and I can’t wait to spend hours again.
Best ARPG out there, better than D3,D4,PoE, PoE2.
Really like the new interface, the only thing I miss from the other arpg’s is having overlay map transparent.

I am gonna be a little shill here but for FG only for 7.89 euros. U gotta get it man u won’t regret your choice. I bought this summer sale my other bud both DLCs too and he is so happy and so was I when he finally tried the game for first time.
Need FG to be able to play FoA so …

Of course it’s worth it, but unfortunately I will get my salary on 15th, when the steam sale ends.
But I play to buy both Forgotten Gods and Fangs of Asterkarn.
Until then, I’m enhoying Ashes of Malmoth.

Best one out there and I wouldn’t have found out about this game if it wasn’t for stupid Covid. I tried D4 and lasted through season 2. I am done with D3 since it’s in recycle mode and have no intention on playing PoE or PoE2. D2:R is not the same as D2. D:I belongs on the cell phone, so that’s a no thanks. WoW Retail is dead to me and Classic is not the same as Vanilla and the xpacks when they were fresh.
Thank goodness there is Grim Dawn. I am super geeked for some Fangs too.

started as a necro, and for the 2nd I chose Inquisitor. Because I always was a gunslinger but I also want companions, skeletons will do for now 
In a sense i feel kinda similiar about this. That’s not me trying to say there aren’t other great ARPG’s out there, it’s just that they may not resonate with me as much as Grim Dawn does.
- PoE/PoE2: A few more issues alongside that, but the Online-Only Part already does quite some damage.
- Diablo 3 is an absolute great Game on Console if you are looking for cool couch co-op. It does have some cool elements, IMO the best aspect of Diablo 3 is still the player-agency on playable modes. You wanna (re-)play campaign? Campaign + Chap-Select, or you get creative and play best off. You are like me and want for alts just roam around, do some side-activities, grind at endgame modes and such. Adventure mode… in that regard D3 still outshines other ARPG’s (even GD), BUT D3 missed on some aspects it mark. Esp. that they scrapped a proper skilltree mechanic is one of the things which killed a lot of replaybility and enjoymenet.
- D4 cool campaign (basegame) but in so many areas it feels like a construction side. It had potential i’m not sure tho to trust modern Blizzard to fully utilize and fix it longterm. On top of that online-only
- Last Epoch was IMO the closest contender so far (esp. in the traditional sense) - i find it’s an overall good game, with cool ideas. But it’s rough around so many edges that it lacks behind it’s potential.
- Diablo 2 also one of the best Games, but a bit dated by todays standard. Even tho ressurected did some cool stuff, it doesn’t fix some of the underlying dated issues, as well i didn’t like some of the changes, like certain character-designs, censorship, the pseudo-offline mode where you have to log-in once every 14 days . But Diablo 2 will always have a special place in my heart because of my childhood plus how much it defined my tastes in games.
- Diablo 1 similiar nostalgia bomb as D2, but aged in my opinion even more poorly
- Torchlight 2 imo still one of the best/greatest ARPG’s out there in terms of quality, but it falls a bit behind because it feels more compact, lite, bitesized. Even Modding didn’t really fix that for me because, sure you got new classes (atleast when i played) but it was literal reskinned/recolored skills already existing and bit mixed together.
- Torchlight 1 scratches the itch if i want a more non-dusted Diablo 1 experience… but also was more lite back in the day.
- Titan Quest i alwys liked the contrast to diablo 2 with the atmosphere and the mythology and such, but it never had the same pull as D2.
- Sacred 1+2 - esp. 2 … love the open world, just found combat too clunky and didn’t like the skillsystems as much.
I could list a few more but i think people get the gist.
Grim Dawn is currently still my #1, even tho there was a time period where Last Epoch had a fair chance to compete. #2 Diablo 2 #3 Torchlight 2.
The only other Game which i had as much as an blast with (recently) as with Grim Dawn was ‘No Rest for the Wicked’ and it truly has a chance to become one of my favorite games as well. I’m just struggling to put it into the same list/ranking as ARPG’s like Diablo/Grim Dawn, because for me the Game is just too differently, it feels more like new subgenre potential (similiar to what Demon Souls did with Soulslikes) with that weird mix out of Diablo meets Souls meets some Zelda Vibes meets some WoW Vibes, the evolution of how to navigate and explore a world in isometric view etc.
Another upcoming one which i’m excited for is Darkhaven but i’m worried that they may go with Online-Only as well, then i’m uninterested.
Anyway - '26 is still a great year for me since we get FoA and NRftW release.

I didn’t play Last Epoch, but I did loved Svarog’s Dream as I am a sucker for big reactivity in the world.
PoE2 is too tedious to play, it’s good to see how a newer ARPG should look, but I don’t have the time and patience to finish trials.
Grim Dawn is perfect for relaxing and not having to worry about huge updates just when you need to have fun.
Now, if only I could play it also on mobile like Titan Quest, that would be awesome.

Played it, somehow finished it with one of my buds, but that was very long time ago now like 3 years ago. Point is devs sold to Krafton Inc (company who ruins everything and it’s about moni only, i think they kicked off with PUBG battle royale if not mistaken) and now to get “all stuff” u need like 500 euros. Don’t really know or care, hopefully Crate is aware of that scenario and remains independent.
But LE itself is 5/10 cuz looooots of bugs, and that 1 tentacle boss bugged as hell, won’t spoil tho.
