Roadmap to 3k OA?

So apparently anybody can do this, while ignoring cunning. I’ve seen builds with insane DPS, 2300-2400 DA, 3000 OA, tons of health and maxed resists.

I didn’t think you could fit all that into the same build while ignoring cunning. Do people just stack a lot of +% cunning? Where is it all coming from? I’ve got tons and tons of BiS quality gear, hundreds of legendaries banked from going on 2000 hours of play, but my stats are never anywhere near that all on the same character (ie if i get heavy DA i have lower OA, lower health, etc).

Also seeing characters with stats like 1100, 400, 800, seems like more total stat points than i get even in full legendary setups. Just not sure what i’m missing

Not to say that i don’t have my MVP toons who are crushing ultimate/crucible/mad queen etc, but they NEVER have stats that good. i always have to make a sacrifice somewhere-

It requires stacking a lot of % OA and flat OA. Typically you’ll need to do this in your masteries, devotions and gear. Cunning is a minor source.

If you’re referring to JoV’s Warlock, it has +% OA from

  • Inner Focus
  • Girdle of Stolen Dreams
  • Mantle of the Black Flame
  • Wraithborne Legwraps
  • Solael’s Decimation
  • The Judicator’s Signet’s proc (unsure if active in that image)
  • and possibly Devotion

It also has flat OA from

  • Blood of Dreeg
  • Girdle of Stolen Dreams
  • The Peerless Eye of Beronath
  • The Closed Fist of Vengeance
  • Handguards of Justice
  • Visage of the Black Flame
  • Orb of the Black Flame
  • Solael’s Decimation
  • Spellwoven Threads
  • and possibly Devotion
  • and possibly the chest piece

Summing it all up comes out to some pretty high values.

Exactly this, as example 1 attribute point spent in cunning (8 cunning) will net you ~5 OA. So even if you go full cunning you would still have to stack some OA from other sources to get some nice over 3k amounts in most cases.

No, picture was w/o that proc.

And you forgot jewelry augments

I have to post this, its an old picture when I was still overevaluating importance of OA, my first all content farming character, hit and run poison dot DEE WH

nice! overvaluing? wouldn’t 4k OA make virtually every hit a crit?

Ahhhhh, good old Titty Quest…

No, it plateaus around 30% (and you get that much on bosses with 3000-ish). It still improves crit damage, but that’s cheaper to get via stuff like Attuned Lodestone, Hawk constellation etc.

A good rule for OA is: under 2200 is too low, over 3200 is too high.

this gives me 45% chance to crit in 1.0.0.7 on my Upheaval build

i have never seen a mob drop its own legendary, outside the final boss of BoC and that hammer sucks lol. I take it you just farm Sentinel for that? he doesn’t want to drop it for me.

Farm the sentinel for what? The only drops unique to him are the blueprints for Covenant of the Three, Eldritch Gaze and their epic equivalents.

mixed up my icons, thought that was the sentinel helmet. that’s one of the new sets

I like how this looks.

Is the Bone crusher with of Ferocity affix? How is the build going?

I never saw JoV and Chthon made characters with DA less then 2200 and OA less then 2600

So seeing this i learned something. Pick up every green item!!! Don’t ignore an item just because it’s not - “Stonehide, Incorruptible, Tyrant’s, Sinister, Heart-Piercing, Frostborn, Glacial, Plaguebearer, Overlord’s”

R.I.P resistances

I never try to stack anything beyond 3k OA. I found it pretty pointless if my crit multiplier is low. But if it’s a blade arc build, or that AAR build i think OA is the way to go

And just like you focusing on the offense, i focused on defensive stacking, but it’s never enough  (I don’t know if it’s forbidden or something, but does anyone mind sharing this guy’s OA?, he has almost 100% hit chance even when your character has around 3k DA)

Getting high OA and DA isn’t hard on a char. Now crossing the 3k mark (which i personally find to be pointless) is though. You need insane MIs and need to know when you need %OA and when you need flat OA. Most chars that lack these i see them having flat OA but not much %OA to support it and vice-versa

2200 DA really depends on the build. Some really need it. Others can do with 2000

This was way back when i had started the game and the forums was filled with posts about insane crits from a Cronley Thug who cosplays like a Nightblade. So i farmed the negative rep and went looking for him, this was on a warlock mind you. The damage i took was 2.5 times my max hp (25k). See the picture why i stack defenses?

I’ve also have the privilege of being raped like that, and probably many others. 24k from 2x notched bone:)

Not surprised. Although i honestly don’t mind him spawning with such weapons. These days he just spawns with a giant dildo

I did the math a couple month ago. It is based on dual wield stormheart sword. I just assumed 1000 damage per swing for each weapon as a base value.

The math says that high OA isn’t as good as it seems for characters that can have high crit values (shaman, arcanist).

My melee stormheart elementalist had 2100 OA but 115% crit damage and dummy kill speed was 25sec.

In my opinion even chars without much crit damage potential shoulf first get their crit damage to ~60% before investing heavily into OA.

Hey your the guy who made that Attack Speed thread. That was really helpful, thanks mate.

And yeah in my own experience i found too much OA to be redundant (don’t kill me Blademasters)
