With enemies hitting like trucks in AoM and an Armor Rating e. g. of 1700 (Caster/Melees without Heavy Armor) should one take this 2 components to get 98 % Absorb?
Or are other Components better e. g. more HP, more DA, Resistances, etc.?
At the moment, I´m playing with 98 % Absorb (Trickster), but I´m thinking about a change.
Everything else that gives armor absorption is just too small (except for soldier passive) compared to hide. A full (soldier) set doesn’t give as much as this single thing. We could use an absorption augment.
Also, what’s the point where you might as well throw hide out? 1400 Armor, 1100?
Some sets also provide decent amount of armour absorption (Justicar, for example), but they are intended for Soldier anyway. As well as some constellations, like Obelisk of Menhir (though again, they’re most useful for Soldier).
If you have 1400 or even 1100 armour, most probably, you can just delete your character as well, he wont feel good in AoM endgame.
I wouldnt use it without at least 2k armor. >_>
I guess it is mostly CC/clearspeed rather that overall armor number. If you oneshot/permaCC trash, armor is not that good for you.
<1000? I don’t think its possible to have less than 1000 with l90 gear, but if you don’t have any and using pre-AoM caster armor you might as well not use absorption. Otherwise throwing away armor is madness in Cairn. The more you have, the more you lose by giving it up.
I think this would remove most casters/summoners using their respective sets from being “AoM-viable”. What I have tested has 1000-1200 on average, when put on a character.
They should buff the armor values of all light armor and caster armor IMO.
I never understood why there should be such large a difference between the armor types.
As for the bonus energy Regen, considering how disadvantaged casters already are I think they deserve a extra instead of even more penalties.
Managed to put up around 1800 armor on my druid by doing two crafts at Angrim + using Titan plating in chest. With 2 Scaled Hides it feels pretty comfortable in AoM (given that you have big enough damage output). I would say you should have at least 1,6k armor with 98% in AoM, if you have lower amount, don’t bother with Scaled hides, try to buff resists/sustain/absorb shields instead.
MB thats because Armor in not a universale defencive mechanic for everyone to relie on it? As for casters there is %dmg absorbtion and unvulnerability spell for Arcanist , %dmg absorbtion and %phyz resist for occultist. Flat absorb, racial dmg reduction, life boost and %phyz resist for Inquisitor , or just abscene amount of life for Shaman.
Be creative about defence mechanic and you wouldnt need scale hide or heavy armor =)
I think the higher your armor, the more armor absorbtion worth since it means higher effective armor gain.
I tend to max (or close to) armor absorbtion when i use heavy armor/obelisk/whatever and have naturally high armor (even if it means i need to sacrifice 2 component slots for it) cuz it gives more bang for my buck.
But if my char uses caster gear and has little to no armor bonus whatsoever sitting at 1200ish armor at lvl100, i just might not bother with armor absorption at all (since it would be a relatively weaker effective armor increase) and try to up my defenses by other, more economical means.
Defense is the stat I´m currently thinking about. My OA is stuck at ~3.000 which is “okay”. But I really don´t know, how good are the following in terms of defense:
