I for one really appreciate the increase in components drop from boss/heroes/chests, but IMO now more than ever it is time to implement an option for automatically picking the partial components from the ground.
Seriously, now i spend more time picking up stuff from the killed mobs than actually playing ^^
Or there is some tecnical reason for this being impossible?
No technical reason, as some mods already allow auto-pickup for components:

It’s probably a design decision. Still, if you bind a hotkey to the pick-up action, the process becomes much faster. Every time I kill a mob I go over the loot and spam “A” (my hotkey for pick-up) and it’s much faster and more comfortable than clicking on each item name.
I actually use an hotkey, and still it takes forever 
So, nobody would have this feature implemented?
I have to say i am a bit surprised i’m the only one that finds the amount of time needed to pick up the components one by one annoying 
The devs have been asked to implement this numerous times, and they always said no. Don´tget your hopes up.
Although we can use hotkey for faster pick up but auto-pickup still better. Beside the money, components are ‘always-pickup’ item. So please make it auto.
I’m 99.9% sure there is/are mod(s) for this.
I realize this, but not everyone that bought the game wants to resort to mods
especially as you cannot run mods with your normal chars without even more messing about 
I’d be satisfied if they just enable a button to instantly pick every component and crafting material close to you, just like Titan Quest AE has.
Auto pick up and stacking would be great. Sometimes I wish the game didn’t have partials at all

I agree with OP, there are ways to do this externally though
personally I use a gaming keyboard with a macro function, which I have set up to spam the pick up hotkey for me
works great as long as you are in a close enough proximity of the items you wish to pick up, which brings me to yet another request
could the pickup range be amplified?
I think Zantai said somewhere that even Crate would like to get rid of the partials, but it would be too much work.
On topic, I too would like to see auto-pickup of components and I also second that not everyone wants to install mods.
+1 !! It kinda ruins the fights when I don’t even see enemy’s or skills anymore as the screen is full of item names -.-*
Crate was asked for doing this… way too much. They won’t do it. That’s what they said. If you think it takes too long, press hotkey + mouse button. I also think someone did make an auto pick-up mod, not sure about that, though, because I don’t look in the mod section due to thinking the game doesn’t need any additional features.
Very, very simple…change your item filter view if your getting so many drops you cannot see…
I know that … but I’m talking about components and cash …
So components only, as cash is auto pick up already, and you’re getting that many components dropping that it’s obscuring that much
Yeah i do that in fights like the killrooms in dungeons where heroes pop one after another, or i would not be able to see wtf i am doing.
Still, once the fight is finished, it takes more time to pick up all the components that the time spent to actually kill the mobs
