Shotgun means a big one hit skill. With Log, it is that nasty poison puke he charges up for a second or 2. It hurts like hell, even with full poison resists.
As a melee, try to find some life leech, either through devotions or gear. It will help your surviving ability.
I don’t think the end boss has any shotgun mechanic skills. The puke poison/acid attack seems to be more an aoe attack.
As far as I know, Shotgunning means being hit or kill by one attack that has multiple missiles which have hit you. In other words, it’s being hit by multiple missiles from one skill/attack. So if it’s more than one missile, not necersarly all of them, you’re being shotgun.
An exemple would be the Falcon Swoop proc in the devotion system.
I have a feeling I’m going to be in the same boat. Realistically your build will not have any %Damage Absorption unless you trigger blade barrier and if you chose not to have “War Cry” that’s another bummer. On top of that your devotion setup matters somewhat.
My build has nearly maxed out resists but that don’t mean shit. It takes massive amounts of spike damage through Ultimate. It can clear screens in seconds but can’t really tank for too long. I know how to fix this build but don’t want to deviate too much. You’ll probably have to show people your devotions etc and they can point you in the right direction.
Now, regarding getting one-shot by Ultimate Log, it seems that the GD wiki is wrong about what attacks Log uses. In close range he will usually hit you with one of the following:
Acid Vomit (AoE) - can crit for more than 10k.
The B**ch slap - this is physical damage and even with 1.5k armor a normal hit can take 4-5k from you hp bar.
Nobody knows what crit multipliers Log has or what his true OA really is. I suspect that what actually happened is you were hit with a critical tentacle strike trying to facetank him.
The spike damage you notice is due to two things:
a) Physical damage you receive;
b) Not enough Hp regen / sec.
Let me present you with an example. Let’s say you are attacked simultaneously by 5 Fleshwarped Trolls. Their weapons will deal: a) 50% physical damage; b) 25% aether damage; c) 25% pierce damage. You can diminish severly the damage you take on the pierce/ aether channel, but the physical damage will check your armor and/or physical resistance (or absorbtion).
Due to the fact that you will ALWAYS receive obscene amounts of physical damage in Ultimate, most players will equip Empowered Legplates of Valor + Golemborn Greaves even on casters (myself included :o). That’s why they are considered OP BiS items.
