It has been done … there’s no way back now. I finally pre-ordered this game. Even the mighty Shrimp could no longer resist the epicness of this game !!!
Hey everyone,
my name is Shrimp and I’m a new member to the Grim Dawn community. It seemed a wise decision to make use of this thread to introduce myself shortly.
I’m a 24 year young student from Belgium finishing college this year.
I like sports, traveling, having beers with some friends, videogames, etc
I don’t like hypocrites and people who think black & white : e.g. “Diablo 3 was total crap!!!” (although not too far from the truth), “PoE is the best aRPG ever, it’s gonna kick the competition in the nuts!!!” (although good, it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt)
I’ve been playing games on a casual basis since 1996 & especially grew a liking to RPG’s. As previously stated, I’m far from a hardcore gamer, but I’ve picked a few aRPG’s along the way. (Diablo 2, Dungeon Siege 1&2, Torchlight, Torchlight 2-beta, Diablo 3, Path of Exile-beta)
Although developers served us a bunch of aRPG’s lately, they left me a bit underwhelmed like (probably) most of you. Somehow they failed to grasp my attention like the genre used to. (Maybe it’s just me growing older)
Diablo 3 was … okay (I had my hours of fun with it), but it failed to live up to the expectations due to many reasons.
I played the Torchlight 2 beta. There was a lot to like, but to me the combat itself felt a bit dull, which is why I didn’t pick it up.
Path of Exile had a lot of great concepts (& music), but it has its flaws as well imo. (However I am aware it’s their first game ever and it’s still in beta, so in that context I’m genuinly impressed)
I first noticed Grim Dawn on Kickstarter & followed it with half an eye ever since. I recently got some more spare time & read some more through the forums. After reading the game features page, some of eisprinzessin’s posts and seeing the artwork, I have the feeling these guys truly know what they’re doing & have the right set of mind.
Therefore I gladly funded this project and somehow I have this feeling that Grim Dawn will become the true emperor of this battle of aRPG’s.
And trust me Crate, once a game truly wins me over, I’m a very loyal fan.

PS: If some of the above sounds a bit harsh, it’s probably because English isn’t my native language & I’m spouting my opinion pretty bluntly. It’s not my intent to bash afore mentioned games or anything.
PPS: anyone knows how the UI will look like? It’s not that important to me, but it’s always a plus for me when I can admire my phat lewtz & skills in a nice interface lol.
PPS: I already read some stuff about combat, but would like to know some more about skills and the likes. Anyone who knows where I can find some info about that?
PPPS: Any ideas when alfa, beta or the final product will be released. Rough estimates (first/second half 201x) are good.
