Sigil of Comsumption - Cast distance too short

Hi,

Any chance we could have a little more cast distance on Sigil of Consumption. It’s a great skill, just wish it could be used a little further out from character. I’m running a Pyromancer ranged build, and it’s the only skill I find myself having frustrations with due to the short distance you’re able to cast it. It would be great if you could cast it around the same distance you can throw a Flash Bang, or cast Curse of Frailty. I can’t see how adding more cast distance to the skill would unbalance it too much…

Because it’s one of the best ADC skills in the game. all it requires to be effective is damage stacking vit/chaos, and as soon as you drop sigil in a pack of enemies, you are instantly being healed (due to the large nature of the skills hitbox). if you added more range to the effect, then I could see it becoming slightly over powered. IF sigil was changed to cast at farther distance, then I suspect the ADC should be lowered a bit for compensation.

The ADC shouldn’t be lowered just because you can cast it further away. On melee builds cast distance isn’t as much of a problem, the utiltiy of the skill is there AND more effective due to being cast on mobs that aren’t moving as much, and closer to the player. On melee builds, the enemies are usually centered around the player so the sigil can reach most enemies you wish to cast it on, but on ranged builds the enemies tend to be at the edge of your screen with melee enemies heading towards you while ranged enemies stay put. It’s not advisable to run into the pack of melee just so you can cast sigil on the ranged like you can with a melee build. Also, with ranged builds most of the time enemies will move in and out of the sigil due to kiting which essentially hinders the skill (for ranged builds) even further. That in itself is the compensation.

There could be either engine limitations, or developers tend to avoid offscreening. Only a developer can answer you.
If you take a look at the totems, it’s the same story and the cast range is much more important there.

I can tell you how to bypass the issue for now: + skill points in SoC greatly expand it’s radius.

Might be.

Might also be that Bloody Pox and Sigil have inconveniently short cast ranges. Extra cast range would be nice so you dont need to cross half a acreen just to cast it. Key for ranged builds.

Totally agree on the sigil and melee point. With sigil-melee cast range is nearly mesningless, you want the mob on you.

Thanks, glad someone sees my point

I can see your point, but I fear it would make the Sigil too OP.

I’m playing Pyromancer myself with Sigil+Destruction+Wendigo, backed by Brimstone+Eldritch Fire, Concussive Bomb, and Hellfire Mines. It’s insanely strong, and the amount of health return is too.

Yes, you can’t cast it as far away as you’d like on a ranged character, but I think the whole point of ‘trapping’ is that you lure enemies on them. You need some way to concetrate and fix them in place anyway, otherwise they’re gonna walk right out of the AoE anyway. Concussive Bomb, and positioning does that for me.

Sigil is Ok i felt, Bloody Pox is slightly too short i felt for ranged. took me a little while to get efficient Pox cast’s in a good rotation. Rather than lead with the CC, I cast Pox first then kite back casting Vulnerability, then dmg as required.

Sigil on Ranged just requires a) comboing with stuns or b) spam casting Sigil and kiting them through it with slows. Sigil’s Radius is huge @ max lvl and the CD is so small with only small CDR investment, you can get 3 out at a time which is plenty.

Yes Ranged will move out of your ground Dots, that is a good thing IMO, you just need to give them anonther ground DoT to walk into

IMHO Sigil isn’t really a caster/ranged skill… It does damage over time on those who stand in it, and monsters can easily walk out of it. It works best for melee builds where you cast it under your feet so enemies will have to stand in it to get to you. I mean… Salazar does that all the time, too.
