If I’m not mistaken, skill boosts from skill support % bonuses(same skill line) are currently additive.
So in the case of BWC, a 8% increase is: whatever-you-have% + 8%
where whatever-you-have% = your % boosts from other sources that can apply to that skill.
I propose that the skill support be multiplacative: 1+%/100 x
the above example would be: whatever-you-have% x1.08
Argument:
Considering the large% that can be gained from gear and devotions, the investment in a +8% or so boost is simply not worth it. Sometimes the node has other stuff, but even so…I argue this. In this manner, skill support % will essentially scale with your whatever-you-have% and be significant. Those points can currently have a much bigger impact elsewhere and really don’t go into these minimal support skills unless you have nothing else practical.
Definitely some of the really weak % boosts should be done this way to make the support % nodes more valuable. There might be some support% that are fairly large % intervals, and thus excluded.
Considering those additive % boosts vary between around 50% and 100% when capped (and around 100% and 200% when you go into Ultimate ranks), giving skills a sudden x1.5-2.0 or x2.0-x3.0 boost is going to lead to some serious power creep that needs to be rebalanced.
I take % boosts like these as a nice bonus, most, if not all of them will have some other stat to go alongside them that really should be the main reason you invest in the modifier or not. It’s the same as exclusive skills in that people will consider what special stat they bring to a mastery (damage absorption, crit damage, CDR, flat damage etc.) rather than the % damage it also provides.
I honestly sometimes think that the % damage from skills is added before % damage amplification. I am sure it doesn’t work this way, but it does feel like that sometimes, at least to me.
No modifier with % damage only has that as far as i know. Most of them either add flat damage, crit damage or something else. You don’t invest into those modifiers just because of % damage.
Rending Force - +2 meter range, flat pierce and crit damage on top of % physical damage.
Fighting Form - Flat Bleeding damage, extra targets to Cadence and an extended degree attack arc on top of % to pierce and physical.
Blindside - Flat Internal Trauma, extra targets to Blitz and reduced defensive ability on top of % physical and internal trauma.
Demon Fire - Adds flat chaos damage on top of % burn damage.
I can go on. You are not just getting % damage when you invest into these.
