Skills with low itemisation

What skills/modifiers stand out that could have more itemisation? I think Mortar Trap could do with a bit more.

Blade Trap has low itemization support IMO - only thing I can think of that supports it is the Unseeing Eye set. EDIT: There’s actually a surprising amount of stuff that buffs Blade Trap, now that I look at it.

I’ll actually go one step further and suggest an entire class combo that has poor itemization support: Trickster. In particular, there is no legendary set that supports Trickster well.

Demonslayer set as well.

Ultos, to some extent.

Huh. Now that I look at it… I mean, if you wanted to go 2H and Lightning for a Trickster, that would actually work. (But why would you go Trickster for that over Elementalist or Warder? Hmm.)

Not much legendary set love for a DW Bleed Trickster though. (Empowered Bloodreaper’s is just bad.)

DW Phys/Lightning Trickster. 4/5 Ultos pieces :stuck_out_tongue:

I suppose. Though choices for belts, boots, gloves are absolute garbage for that build… wait. Well, ok, maybe Light’s defender gauntlets, or Touch of the Everliving Grove… still not great choices.

It’s not like all builds are perfect in that regard. Most of them aren’t, in fact.

It just seems really odd to me that itemization is as limited as it is in Grim Dawn, given the fact that ARPGs as a rule are very loot-heavy. I would think the dilemma players should be faced with when gearing a toon is being spoiled for choices, rather than the exact opposite.

Well, ofcourse if crate had resources it would had been possible to make 1 set per class combo, or even two sets per class combo. But I know a certain game with such approach, and it’s often criticized exactly for this :stuck_out_tongue:

Wait, what? Why would anyone criticize an ARPG for having MORE loot to choose from? That’s like criticizing food for tasting too good.

Because there wasn’t much choice. It became “wear any of 4-5 class sets or GTFO”. If your favourite playstyle isn’t supported with a good enough set you’re screwed. GD has the same issue, but to lesser extent.

But wouldn’t more items and sets be the solution to that problem? I mean, they could just improve the sets they already have, I guess, but I get the impression they aren’t going to bother. (It WOULD be nice to see the Empowered Bloodreaper set actually be close to competitive with the Leg sets, frankly.)
