Hey guys,
Since i started playing this game (and really enjoying it), i always had a problem with smokehouses. Usually i put them near meat sources or my central food storage buildings (i usually build them all very close to eachother but not always).
Nothing i do can lower the travel time of these buildings, when having a big city its always 75%+ travel time.
I really wish you guys would make a bigger version of this building with 6/8 workers, maybe with a upgradable tier. For me at least, its the most ineffcient building for sure.
Have you changed the initial settings from 1 meat and 1 fish? I try to cluster the smokehouses for ONLY meats around the hunters and for ONLY fish near the fishers. Otherwise the worker will get the meat, smoke 1 meat, and then get the fish, and then smoke 1 fish, repeat. If meat or fish outstrips the other or isn’t available, you end up having them walk a lot.
Understood. I’ve delayed building a fisherman’s shack on my current game since it would slow down one of my smokehouses. I don’t have the population to justify expanding up to where I can cluster enough shacks to justify a smokehouse nearby. Tracking fish stocks is harder than hunting deer, although I haven’t had a need to test the new Technology on fishing.
Yeah, after finishing the work they’ve been doing, they have always gone for whatever the closest source of meat is the instant they’re idle. That can easily be a long distance away. It would take some coding, but it would be great if there was a time tolerance that took into account how far away nearby sources of meat were from producing Meat.
If I may say so, I would also greatly appreciate and welcome it if the smokehouse building could be improved and expanded with more workers. Please Crate entertainment.
