Some monsters in the crucible...

I just died in challenger at wave 149 -.-

X2 zantarin and they shotgunned me.

Some of the monsters are just op, my char can not be any more tanky without losing something I need. I can facetank the mad queen easily yet Zantarin can one shot me. He does was too much shotgun dmg and other monsters like anasteria reduces resists way too much and then you can die very easily. She put some of my res to 40%

I don’t think I should be dying instantly with these stats in only challenger. There seems to be no reason to play a tank as too many monsters have luck based, unfair moves. It makes me bored of the game.

Hah, if you think playing a tank is bad, try taking a caster or ranged character into the crucible. Not only are you squishy as hell, but there’s nowhere to run or kite when the knobs start filing up the screen. I can’t even beat one map with my very nicely geared pyro @ lvl 85. Talk about frustrating…

I managed to beat 150 waves of Aspirant with my bleed based Conjurer, but it was tough, I had to have all 4 buffs on. Yesterday I got to 149 and got smashed by 4 bosses, don’t even know who they were my health just dropped and I died. I only had the defense buff on though, seems you need all 4. I can’t even make it to 50 waves of Challenger before dying, but that’s without any buffs.

They cost too much Tributes for me to use constantly, I’d have to farm Tributes before doing an actual run and that isn’t any fun.

This is somewhat where I’m at. Doing a full 150 run fresh on Aspirant take a long time and even when I beat a full run with a friend of mine and didn’t get a legendary even. We got a Zaratin (or whoever that guy is) and I had to solo that enormous final wave for about 20 minutes to kill him (I am basically a pure tank) because my buddies got shotgun one-shotted. I managed, barely. But I’ve also been one-shot by him plenty of times even though my entire build is made to tank. It seems silly. Having a run ruined near the end by boss RNG feels crappy and the rewards seem paltry. Of course you could make zero T3 towers and make bank on tribute but that is hardly optimal time wise.

Still fun, though. The tower bug is pissing me off something fierce though. Might only use the banner buffs for now…

You do understand this is made for the 1% players that burn nemesis down in 8 to 10 secs. The casual player has no way to beat gladiator mode with above average gear.

Crate had to do something to stop the elite players or at least challenge them while squashing most everyone else. If you aren’t wearing near full legendary made specifically for your build and have a cookie cutter build now, be happy getting anywhere above 100 in gladiator mode.

Its ashame devs have to make games almost unplayable to appease the upper crust. Bragging rights now.

The difficulty isnt the main problem there.
The problem is, even if you can beat crucible, the reward is still pathetic.

My build is unkillable in the normal game, I farmed for hudreds of hours for this build and I have bis equipment. I can facetank the madqueen without using pots and without ever worrying about even falling to half hp. I built it to be a tank and so far it has done well. I also have fast clear speed.

The monsters was no problem apart from anestaria res reduction and zantarins shotgun. No character anyone has made can survive that hit, it’s just overpowered.

Difficulty is a problem because it’s luck based. If you didn;t meat zantarin or anestaria or didn’t meat them with other strong mobs then it would be quite easy but they are so muchs tronger than anything else int he game, fabius is like a trash mob compared to them. Iron maiden is also too strong I think.

Well, there are more dangerous mobs, actually:

Shamblers - throw boulders, that deal serious damage and stun you. One boulder isnt fatal, but if whole group hits you… The most OP thrash, btw.

Chtonian Harbingers - place a curse on player, that resuce your elemental, poison and vitality resistances. If those arent overcapped, you will face oneshot from many bosses.

Sharzul - immune to ADCTH, stuns, fumbles…

Zantarin - shotgun ability. Irrelevant if you’re not close.

Iron maiden - has reflect, serius damage

Fabius - has reflect, serius damage too

Anasteria, Wrath of Aether - “Devastation” skill is truly devastating

Bloodlord Thalonis, Guardian of Gates and few others - put a heavy “fumble/impaired aim” effect, reducing your DPS into the void, and hurting your ADCTH recovery. Not fatal itself, but may drive to being overwhelmed.

I agree, there is RNG, especially when mutators added up.
But even in normal campain, Fabius willl rect you, if he got a great weapon :).

you just need to overcap vitality res and push +max vitality resistance, if you’re so concerned about it. BTW, i survived that shotgun in Aspirant, dealt ~6k damage.

Yeah the game needs more balance. It wasn’t that bad in the normal game but now in the crucible when you can fight multiple nemesis at once it’s bad.

Fabius one shot my old witchblade so I made this one and hes a joke now. Sharzul, mad queen, moosalauke, most of the bosses can’t do anything. Anestaria, zantarin and iron maiden need changes though.

But most of all is zantarin. I fought him many times and just destroyed him but like I said, I fought 2 of him at wave 149 so no matter what I did as a melee one of them would always be in the perfect range to shotgun me and he did. My 14k hp, all my res and my 2500 DA did nothing. One shot killed from a boss on only challenger because of bad balance.

I once got unlucky and faced two fabius and a maiden.

I lost that one.

You just proved my point. The last waves are made over the top to stop the 1%.

How do you think the rest of us feel that don’t have BiS equipped?

Crate has said they are going to do a balance pass on some of the enemies in the Crucible, Iron Maiden’s reflect being one I can remember off the top of my head, as well as the odds of getting multiple of the same nemesis on the same wave going down, and being impossible outside of Gladiator difficulty.

They nerfed iron maidens reflect. I thought that was the issue but it’s not. Apparently it’s her retaliation that does the big damage. Her cadence is also very strong so she hasn’t been nerfed at all.

In the patch notes I’m pretty sure it said just iron maiden and fabius won’t have multiple spawns at once. But they didn’t mention anything about zantarin or anestaria…I would rather fight 5 fabius that just one of them and I would have an easier time too.

The pending next hot fix will correct the multiple nemesis spawns. Hopefully it goes in this week.

I play a reflect Warder with lower stats and never died in any of the crucible difficulties no matter what they threw at me…

I wouldn’t have died either if not for zantarin. As I said, his attack one shots any character. He only does it if your away from him though, but since I was fighting 2 of them it means I would always have at least one of them at distance so there was nothing I could do. I was facetanking one and the other used his skill and one shot me.
