So I’m getting back into Grim Dawn as I didn’t really give it a proper go initially, purchased the expansions and seem to be having some issues with the stability of the game during startup.
The game is very inconsistent when loading. Sometimes it loads ok, but 3 out of 4 attempts it crashes during startup. Sometimes I get the black screen of doom and then it crashes, sometimes I get the loading screen and no Crate logo and then it crashes. Sometimes I get the Loading Screen with Crate Logo and then it crashes. Sometimes it loads up, and when I click Start to enter the game, it crashes.
As of yet, I don’t seem to have any stability issues within the game itself once I get past the loading/start screen (unless I have now cursed myself with that too :)). Although I have perhaps only logged 2 hours or so of gameplay since returning.
I have tried running in all sorts of compatability modes, (with and without running as administrator), turned graphics down to minimum settings. I have repaired and revalidated the game files more times than I can remember. I have re installed twice. All graphics card and sound card drivers have been updated.
Has anyone else had these issues or can anyone offer any help? I have seen similar issues about crashing but nothing as ‘sporadic’ as what I am seeing.
