Soullance Cabalist?

I just came across the mythical version of the Soullance rifle and it has me wanting to make a vitality/aether Cabalist build, but I would like some ideas on how to make it work. I like the idea of the Soullance and really want it to work.

Depends what you want to do with it. That said, the weapon is built to be a ranged gunner that deals Vitality damage so you’ll want an attack replacer and some WPS to go with it. I’d rather look at Oppressor or perhaps Archon/Sentinel over Cabalist if I were to build around it.

I can see the reason for Oppressor, Archon or Sentinel over Cabalist now that it has been brought up. Little to contribute to the kind of build that the Soullance is leaning towards. I like having the Soleal’s Witchfire for that delicious attack speed boost as well as the Vitality damage increase. So most likely I will go with Sentinel.

All right I feel like I am on to something with this build but some feed back would be nice.

The full Dark One’s set is pretty great for general vitality bonuses. You can also cover your resistances with components and augments, rather than relying on perfect MIs to do so.

Dark One is definitely a great set but I think Blood Knight would be more applicable here.

Few things that I noticed while looking around gear to swap in:

  • 29% CDR on this build is pretty respectable. Another point for going Necro other than more WPS is having frequent pure Vitality Bone Harvests as nukes. Necro definitely has more raw offensive power whereas Occultist looks/feels like it’ll be more defensive/tanky to me.
  • 18/16 Righteous Fervor really bothers me but I can’t find another way to bump it up other than a Badge of Mastery (+3 isn’t out of the question, +5 is much harder to get) or green mastery affixes.
  • Vitality having no gloves with attack speed bothers me as well :p. Dark One’s are nice for the OA and Pox mod and it looks like you still can get ok/not bad attack speed regardless so I guess it’s not a major loss.

Is the proc any good? Low CD intrigue me, but the lack of itemization to convert aether to vitality make me don’t want to test it.
