Hi GD community.
I spotted Grim Dawn a few weeks back - I was so overwhelmed with awesome that its discovery has caused me to immediately forget just how I found it - and I’ve been checking the forums regularly since.
A long-time militant exclusivist PC gamer, I’ve been playing through a bit of an ARPG renaissance lately. I picked up Torchlight just after its release and it reminded me just how much I enjoyed Diablo 2, and that I’d not picked up TQ since I lost my first playthrough (up to Delphi) due to unforseen HDD formatting years ago - before the release of Immortal Throne, even.
Also started a belated Hellgate: London SP playthrough thanks to the Revival Project (though the UDK port sadly looks like it’s now going the way of vapourware).
Edit: I am also plagued by the temptation to pick up Silverfall again-again and try to get all the way through it this time. I remembered this game when reading about GD’s fast-heal system, which is similar to a Silverfall skill that I always picked, no matter what character build…
I try to keep my internet profile consistent, so if you see “coldspiral” somewhere (steam, rockpapershotgun, deviantart, writerscafe, etc.) it’s probably me. Feel free to add me if you spot me on some network or another. The exception is on Bay12’s forums, where for some reason I signed up as Spiral42. Can’t for the life of me remember why.
Anyone else into Dwarf Fortress?
I’m quite looking forward to Grim Dawn and its setting shows a lot of promise. The grungyness of steampunk sits well with a post-apocalyptic vibe, and the “iron and salt” ceremonial kind of aspect looks like it will really set the game apart.
As far as time spent not-gaming goes, I’m a 3rd-year university student studying philosophy and religion. My current essay is on alchemical symbolism. The course I’m studying has been undermined, sabotaged, and recently outright axed by the university bureaucracy, so I’ll be one of the last to complete it, which is a terrible thing.
And that’s my rambling done for today.
Thanks for reading,
ColdSpiral.
