Actually I would prefer it to go to animal feed

Too true, with the caveat that I don’t think it would be fair to make all perishable foods into some generic rotting slop that applies as all food groups for livestock feed purposes.

I don’t know which animals can eat greens or berries but those are my usual suspects for spoilage.

Yep that’s how I’d see it happening.

There is rotting meat and fish that also spoil.
Not very tasty.

Hence, composter as the default as the title suggested.
