Storm totem + mortar build viability?

Ive had this build idea for awhile about a tower defense esque build using totems and mortars. Has anyone done this and would it even be viable considering both usually require specialization. Ive never played around with mortars before and they seem fun.

Yes, you can do Lightning Mortars + Totems and in various of ways. I’ll try to provide some links / discussions on it later.

The annoying thing is Totems, Mortars, Mines and Devils are all summons that you cannot bind Arcane Bomb to so you need another skill to proc this (Widow) devotion  Thankfully Wind Devils are going to be permanent soon.

here i was thinking the more annoying thing was many totem/mortar items occupy the same slot so blocks eachother

They became valid after multiple items getting all these +X to Summon (not limit).
I remember in one itemization variant you have a lot of +X Summon to Mortar and in the other you have 0.5 recharge on them so in both you can deplot them pretty fast. But it’s hard to see in Grim Tools which of them would be best.

ye i get that
what i mean is, you can’t stack all the +summon limit items to both
so either you get many totems and not so many mortars, vice versa, or “halfises”, so you get this feeling of missing some maxed summons because same slots

This is basically what i was worried about.

Some links with different items (completed ones by @grey-maybe )

You can still have up to 10 “turrets” though. How many of which depends on itemization variants.

This seems like a lot of fun. Seems like if you lean into storm totems you have better clear vs mortars better single target (if mobs aren’t too fast).

Ty i didn’t know a few of these items existed. definitely seems viable.
