Stuck On Elite.

I’ve got an 83 soldier/nightblade and I’m stuck om the Bane of Cairn quest. I can get to the quest target but he’s 3 or 4 levels above me and I’m not doing much damage. Usually I grind out a level or two and get past something like this but where I’m at in the game most mobs are too low to give me XP.

Thoughts on how to proceed? I’ve tried doing the crucible but don’t get much XP from that either.

Thanks!!

You would rather need more RR (resist reduction), which is a must have in this game. You could also upload your build on https://www.grimtools.com/calc/ to help us with helping you.

OK, once I have the profile on the web tool how do I post it?

ok, here’s the link:

You are very light on the resistances for ultimate, and damage output seems low - even with all your temporary and proc buffs on.

Your current gear selection is not helping you out either.

For example - why choose a relic that does almost nothing for a melee based character? You currently do almost NO elemental damage, (second page of the character sheet) yet Iskandra’s Balance gives +86% Elemental damage. Same thing with the augments on your weapons. The elemental damage boosts they give you are currently wasted, get some physical/vitality damage augments on them.

Drop back to Elite and grind out some better gear, or hit the crucible doing 10 or 20 waves, get the loot, reset, repeat.

Assign your unassigned points to War Cry, Break Morale (physical RR), Field Command, Squad Tactics, And Oleron’s Rage

If you still need points pull them from Menhir’s Will, Veterancy, and Fighting Spirit. You can leave one point in each.

You might have to juggle your physique and cunning around to wear some of the heavier armor pieces. Maybe 30 points in cunning and the rest in physique.

If you have the recipes build the juggernaut relic or Oleron’s Wrath as they both gives you +1 to all your soldier stats. in theory you could also build a Nightblade relic, but you are more soldier focused now so I’d suggest sticking with bumping the soldier stats.

I don’t know how well the sheet DPS translates but with a 2H Savagery based Warden

8-15K crushes Veteran (Varies a bit if you are ranged or melee)
40K crushes Elite
52K allowed me to lay the smack down on Valdaran (Ultimate) and Aleksandr (Elite).

The only thing I have to watch out for is Reflective enemies as I’ll kill myself hitting them.

Oh and get your resists all to 80%+. It makes life much less variable.

Put only as many points into cunning/spirit as you absolutely need to equip the gear you want. Everything else goes into physique. Veterancy is bad, you really should only have 1 point in it to soak up +soldier extra points. Decorated Soldier is even worse. Breath of Belgothian is a must if you’re dual wielding because it’s a straight buff to PB. I played around with the points you had spent, this should do a bit better for you.

This is my blademaster build and I’ve died a grand total of twice the entire game with it. Those deaths were to Ravager. You basically just zip around the place stabbing things and dropping maelstroms while rolling defensive cooldowns as needed/desired. Might be a better option to build towards.

Thanks for the advice. I made some changes.
