[Suggestion] Any chance we could get a Mythical Marauder’s Set?

I figure it’s a big ask at this point in development since there are some Empowered Items and Sets that just won’t get Mythical versions, but I always have had a soft spot for DW Ranged builds and I think this could actually work in endgame. We’ve seen how some builds are able to do endgame with some of the Epic Sets such as Keeper of the Blaze, The Unseeing Gaze and Dreadwalker.

I happened to get this set while playing through a new DW Pistol Purifier and built around it, then remembered it did not have a Mythical version to use at level cap, hence this request.

What would I suggest for the Mythical version? Here’s what I think:

  1. For starters it needs some resistances, mainly Poison & Acid Resistance on the Belt or Gloves and it could use some Physical Resistance on the 3/4 Set Bonus.

  2. It should have 3 class support on the 4/4 Set Bonus and Inquisitor skill support on the items since just having it as a Sorcerer set is kind of weird and not effective. Perhaps give it some points to Bursting Round, Chilling Rounds and one other skill.

  3. It would be nice to give the 4/4 Set Bonus 50% Chaos Damage converted to Fire Damage since that would enable you to use a Galakros Singed Plating and Incendiary Shoulderplates to fully convert the Chaos to Fire or you could use a Galeslice’s Mark to make it 50/50 Fire/Cold split if you wanted.(If there was 45% Chaos Damage converted to Cold Damage to Pneumatic Burst mod added to Namadea’s Horns you could use this as a Cold pistol set for Saboteurs :sunglasses: )

  4. It would be great if the Set got some kind of granted skill or proc for the 4/4 Set Bonus. I was thinking either a Fire/Cold WPS like Bursting Round (but with Fire/Cold Damage like the belt WPS) or maybe a RR proc like Festerblaze or The Unseeing Gaze Sets have.

I’ve been playing with this build I made and while it’s somewhat passable, it definitely needs more damage and some defensive stats (primarily Physical Resistance). This is not surprising since it’s a level 65 set - it just needs a lot more oomph. It’s great pairing this set with the Elemental Harmony Ring Set and the Plunderer’s Talisman Relic as they all focus on Fire/Cold damage.

Getting a Mythical Marauder’s Set has been asked for several times in the past, but it never made the cut. Let’s get more pew pew in GD!

What do you all think?

This is pretty hot, split damage to boot and how I’d love to see it positioned. The Inquisitor support makes sense but also kinda boring (and some mild overlap with luminari). You could get decent wps support with plunderer, upping set wps to 25%, and two void seals that are split conversion with galeslice, but doesn’t get around needing more elemental RR support, or good ways for sorc to convert aether/lightning to fire and cold.

Flat RR would be sweet on a set bonus wps, frees up devo points to grab both fire and cold RR if one wanted, which is always my personal hatred split damage that don’t share RR devo

Agreed and good suggestions. I would love Sorcerer to work, but that lack of RR is rough. A nice Fire/Cold RR proc for the 4/4 would be awesome if it were like the one on The Unseeing Gaze Set or the Festerblaze/Blightlord Sets.

At the very least the granted WPS should get a % bump if it makes Mythical status like you suggested.

I always assumed it could work, since Druid does plenty of good things for examplee, but usually on a gunner/AA the problem is having to fill up 40-60% of wps you can’t get from items, AND convert all the arcanist flat to whatever you are doing, to match up to what inquisitor can bring. Without being pure elemental that is basically impossible. Although dual/tri element is definitely more touchy to RR issues that single damage types.

Wouldn’t mind personally. Although one thing was always getting me curious: what Sorcerer(ess) has to do with Marauder? XD That’s irrelevant though. But I guess some people in vanilla game do play Sorcs with this set. Some global conversions are needed indeed. Like 50% chaos and lightning to cold and fire, respectively.

Lightning converted to fire/cold split on the set would be sweet, leaving chaos for either galeslice or individual gear if you want to aim more towards singular fire or cold

There’s not much Lightning Damage here to convert unless you’re sinking a ton of points into Static Strike (to which there are no bonuses) or going with Storm Spread (same). I counted only 24 flat Lightning added from Components in my build for example.

There’s other ways to build it for sure. For me, focusing on the Fire/Cold aspect was paramount. That’s why I looked to convert all the Chaos from the Burning Void WPS and Brimstone instead.

How would you do it to utilize that type of conversion if it were added to the set?

Oh I’d ram all the points into static strike and storm spread and probably seekers for good measure

After thinking about it a bit more, I agree that this is the way to go for giving the set an individual identity.

I’ll change my suggestions to:

  1. If each respective gun gave an average 45% Lighting Damage converted to their respective Damage (i.e. Fire for Fury & Cold for Justice) that would be awesome.

  2. I would still give the 4/4 Set Bonus the 50% Chaos Damage converted to Fire Damage so you can fully convert to Fire or split 50/50 Fire/Cold like the set wants with the Galeslice Mark as I showed.

  3. The Set does need some Physical Resistance, Health and could use some more points into Fire Strike/IEE/etc. Some more Attack Speed on the guns would go a long way here too. Toss in some Poison & Acid Resistance and some others as well, maybe Bleeding and Vitality Resistance?

  4. I would add support another skill from each respective mastery (Demo & Arcanist). Not sure which skills I would like, but probably Thermite Mine for the RR with Static Strike as a close second choice for the Lightning Damage. For Arcanist, maybe Fabric of Reality since you can convert the Damages and the Racial Damage is needed for single RR classes like Sorcerer.

  5. The previous suggestion for a 4/4 Set Bonus -Fire %/-Cold % RR proc will definitely be needed for Sorcerer as it’s a single RR class combo.

Might as well ask for a bunch, right?

So I made a thing today in GT: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/vNQbeER2

Mind you, this with no affixes on the Galeslice Mark. Build definitely needs some Health and I wish it got some more Attack Speed. Uses both Elemental Seekers and Arcane Currents. If the above suggestions of mine are used, this build could actually be pretty decent I think!

Any other thoughts ppl? I’m really pumped if this gets into the game! :sunglasses:

Why would you use Iskandra instead of SR set here?

Cuz why not? :man_shrugging:

It’s Arcanist support and completes the Aether conversion. You could do SR set sure, but I wanted to use Iskandra for the points and Physical Resistance/Slow Resistance. I also have a thing for Iskandra’s Set - always liked it and was not happy it was changed to support TSS, so I’ve looked to use it in future builds somehow…

SR Set can work but you lose a bunch of damage % and the conversion. You have to get a bunch of Piercing/Chaos Resistance from affixes, but that can be done.

Very quick alt doodle for potential purifier side

Left devos the same, 3 piece luminari set goes on for pierce conversion and WPS, shoulders change for chaos conversion with your proposed 50% set bonus, boots change because who wants to craft and pants change for skill bonuses. Relatively close to elemental purifier, or honestly any purifier that using FS, but hey. Fire cold split is fun with a bunch of on target item support, may be worth grabbing individual RR in devo tree event. With bump to mythic and those bonuses I’d expect this would perform very well (and tiny hp per most purifiers)
