[Suggestion] Change "on death" procs in Pet items to "on crit"

There are a few Pet items in the game that have a weird way of activating their skills. The “on death” proc only works when the player kills stuff but regular pet builds just completely abandon player damage to focus on Pet damage. This makes such Pet items completely useless for regular pet builds. The items i’m talking about are the Bonescavenger’s Deathgrips, the Black Scourge and the Dracarris.

If the intention behind them is to support hybrid Pet builds then i believe these items would be a lot better if they triggered “on crit” instead of “on death”. Hybrid Pet builds invest in both OA and damage for the player which makes these items trigger quite consistently but only when there are lots of targets available. Against single targets or small groups of tough enemies they become useless as the skill won’t activate without you killing something first. You are competing against your own Pets for kills under these conditions and you usually lose because Pets are still the main source damage for the build. With activation based on crits these items would still be unusable in regular Pet builds as those don’t invest in OA but it would make them a lot better for hybrid builds as you no longer would be competing against your own Pets for kills. I’d suggest that at least the Dracarris got this treatment as it is an item to build around and not a minor support like the other two.

I agree, most of the hardest enemies in the game fight alone making it never worth it to build around ‘on death’ skills.

The bonescavenger grips seem useful though because of the conversion alone.
I think Dracarris can only be used with conduit that converts the hound to chaos, otherwise it is overruled by korvaaks burning blade, this already makes it much too limited in application even if it was ‘on crit’. Also replace the pointless 120% fire resistance.

Yeah, Korvaak’s blade is better because of the conversion but i’m playing with it right now and mostly going for fire damage and it is just fine. My build is mostly focused on the other aspect of the weapon: retaliation. The proc adds a ton of retaliation to Pets and i’m trying to take advantage of that. The main problem is identifying the retaliation damage values amidst all the chaos because i can’t really stop Pets from attacking and killing things.

Anything other than on death would probably be better. So +1
