Suggestion: Make EOR more weapon damage focused

Currently EOR double dips alot in flat damage and weapon damage, making it a bit strong, so it was nerfed a few times recently.

But i think nerfing the weapon damage component is not the way to go, as chaos or vitality based two handed EOR has nowhere near the performance of full physical conversion warborn with beronath. This is mainly because they cant fully convert all the damage types compared to beronath, and they have a lower attack speed bonus overall.

This problem can be fixed if EOR benefited more from weapon damage, for example 55% weapon damage base, cut the flat damage by half, so that 1 handlers like warborn benefit less from the full conversion while giving two handers a better damage potential, as they cant convert the fire damage or soulfire part unlike warborn + beronath. Cut soulfire damage and add a tiny bit of weapon damage (say 5%-10%) can also benifit twohanders.

It also opens up better itemization as maxing EOR for that flat damage may no longer be top priority, and flat damage from items become more useful. Warborn based EOR no longer need to stick to beronath for best performance.

The main issue with %Weapon damage skills - they enable ADCTH. And not just for Weapon Damage component, but for ALL damage dealt. And its effectivenes equals to %Weapon Damage (capped at 100%).
So, increasing weapon damage on that skills might make it too powerful defensively, with more potent ADCTH. It’s the only reason i see for having lower %Weapon Damage.

the reason it has low weapon damage is cause it’s an aoe skill that hits about 6-12 times a second

Well, they could just reduce the number of hits per seconds (hell, it’s 2 times higher, than of AAR or similar skills).

So basically the idea is to turn fast hitting AoE skill with low WD to slow hitting single target skill with high WD,strange:undecided:

It would still benifit two handers more and make them more survivable right? One handers even at 70% weapon damage, life leach is just not enough to stay alive from some of the damage. Especially compared to the 200%+ WPS damage builds.

Yes but the flat damage on it boost the damage by about 90k+ when fully converted with Beronath, it works ALOT more than the weapon damage component, it is one of the reason why it needs to be maxed right now.

I think its fairer to compare EoR to other spell channeling skills such as AAR and FoI instead of melee auto attack builds.

Yeah, it sounds like a bad idea. It’s a multi-hitting AOE skill. Rising the WD would make it OP.

AAR and FOI builds actually have decent survibility. AAR warlock have absorb, mirror, damage reduction, slow etc. FOI have inquisitor seal and is generally tanky in gearing. The only issue is both skills have poor synergy in some parts, namely weird damage types on AAR and counter intuitive dots on FOI. If they both gets damage type fixed or base damage buffed they prob work just as good as EOR.
