im just new to the game (after i red some really good critics yesterday i bought it instantly) and want to build me a battlemage
i went through both skilltrees but cant find “real” synergies of the arcanist and soldier, they have 3 different dmgsources and im just wondering how my arcanist offense should increase my soldier offense or reversed?
is it just for the buffs and auras and btw how many of em can i turn on at the same time?
As many as you want or as many as your Energy/Energy Reg can handle.
Normally i would treat Soldier only as “Stat-Giver” and “Buff-Bot” with many 1pointer Skills in this constellation, Arcanist adds some nice Skills to it and you get your main attack from Arcanist as well, but that really depends on your choice of playstyle, with Arcanist as “main class” you will be playing a ranged char (could be melee with calidors tempest) and with soldier as main it would become a melee.
By “main class” im referring to the Mastery where you get your (spammable) dmg abilities. Battlemage is really really tanky if you take the needed Skills, normally you add Arcanist or Soldier to an offensive Mastery to get some decent Def-Abilities.
Arcanist is unique because it can create its own synergies with skills like IEE. Basically that’s a skill that allows you to trade a chunk of physical into elemental damage, while providing you with even more elemental damage/elemental burn damage.
Soldier is just the tanky class, with some good weapon damage-based skills.
Both classes have good passives and good defensive skills. Note that you don’t actually need to select a primary/secondary skill from either class, you can rely on components for that (in the beginning, at least).
Late game the thing about Soldier and Arcanist is that they get a ton of support from items, especially items with +to skills or +to all skills.
