The Absolute Top 10 Builds for GD

/brag My Chaos AAR Warlock reaches 150-160k dps with it’s chaos beam. /brag

Apparently my veiled insult was too veiled. Noted, for the future.

Im glad that it crossed your mind that I actually dont give a fuck about guy, who wrote walls of bs, trying to ˝insult˝ me.

…right, anyway…back to the topic and not this sandbox slap-fight…

I was glad to see at least one person listed TSS Druid in their preferences for top 10. I personally despise Aether Ray (and every other stand and channel spell in every other game as they are flat out not “fun” for me) and won’t build or use it…

…maybe we will get a cool shapeshifting mastery for the expansion…Yes? maybe?

Likely never due to engine limitations.

Look, it’s an internet fight!

Guys, maybe you should just ignore each other.

On topic:

I’d agree with Seeman’s list, adding Chaos WH and Freeze Spellbreaker. Warborn Commando and Witchblade are also still very strong as is DW Blademaster.

As you can see, it’s hard to call a top 10 list.

Edit: Even though I’d be interested in Nine’s and Ceno’s opinions.

+1 for AAR fire/aether build

I have a level 60 atm and just about at the warden, and i must say, compared to my poison sab, who is level 78, my AAR character is leagues above my sab in dps output, and tanky enough to facetank every elite monster ive encountered so far, thanks to all the buffs/shields/defense skills ive invested in, while still maintaining effective dps (+aether damage is around 680ish and +fire damage is mid 500s)

currently have +105 energy regen and 149 cast speed, shit just dies. liquefied in seconds. i can spam AAR for a long enough time that i very very rarely find myself energy starved.

sopranos what build do you follow?

Ceno doesn’t care about the top 10 builds, and thusly has no list.

Regardless, the 8 that Seemann mentioned are strong ‘enough’.

Great guide/build

Since posting ive amassed another 2 levels and found gear along the way to bolster my overall dps/tankiness

Aar dps - 3550
+aether dmg - 842%
+fire dmg - 575%
Cast speed - 182
Energy regen - 119
5400 health
5100 energy

Thats how my build is coming along atm, warden went down in less than a minute on my first attempt.

Couldnt be happier playing this character, i can only imagine what itll look like when i wrap up elite

May i add 2-h Ultos Lightning Savagery Warder/Elementalist/Conjurer to top-10 list?
Maybe he not have so much listed dps in character screen, but he is still solid, imho.

p.s. when i finally loot my Light Defender helm reciepe, i will finally test 2-h Elementalist!!1

I need to try those (especially spellbreaker)

Of course, Ultos builds are still very strong

i envy u guys! I wish my builds are that powerful! I feel too bad now that I quitted the game and never ended up with an Op build

Thats understandable. Plus, threads like this show up all the time. But I was interested nevertheless.

It’s all about bragging and e-peen, you know.

I’m still partial to the DW Cadence builds with WPS, it’s the ones that I always go back to.

I have two ARR builds, one on my Warlock as Chaos/Fire and my Sorceress with Aether/Fire and some Lightning (Stun Jacks) and Cold Damage (OFF) and I enjoy playing them the most albeit currently leveling my Conjurer (Level 78 currently) who uses Dying God constallation and some gear/devotions to increase my Vitality damage so I am not a completely gimpged caster when my pets have some trouble helping me.

I got a nice level 54 Nightblade who will soon go for the final boss in normal as well with maxed out (for my gear) pierce damage thanks to very high cunning and appropiate devotions playing hit and run with her, quite some fun too.

Where would a build based around the Dawnguard set rank? Just curious.

Why would anyone enjoy playing aar as first main damage source ? First of all, laser beams “pierce” not like wave attack of Gypsy from tv series called Flash. Decrease damage and make it pierce through, now it is acceptable level when it comes to “having fun”. Plus you don’t get to move. High mana consumption for single target, no aoe without devotion proc. Yes it is boss “melter” but so is devastation and it is more cool/fun… Anyway aside from awaiting hateful comments towards myself, for me ultos 2h and pierce nightblades are very good.

I enjoy AAR because of exactly what you’re disliking about it. Real Lasers, BTW, do NOT Pierce, they hit one thing, burn through, and repeat…Which is exactly what AAR does. There is an item called Tome of The Arcane Wastes, that offers a skill similar to AAR, but it DOES Pierce, and it’s elemental damage. Whenever I see someone use it, it seems to perform slower on all fronts than AAR, so I don’t personally love it. It does LOOK amazing though.

As for Devastation, AFAIK, AAR > Devastation for boss DPS, by far, for casters specifically, because a 200% Cast Speed AAR is doing more ticks on a boss than Devastation’s cast, and it’s certain to hit, where Devastation is not, on many bosses. On something big and stationary like Log, where Devastation is certain to hit every time as long as you cast it right, perhaps there’s more of a contest.

That said, if you don’t like AAR, fine. Some people do, some don’t. Channeled skills are very divisive in ARPGs, it seems to be a love/hate situation only.

It is one of the highest single target damage abilities in the game. Standing still is not a problem, you have to do that with most abilities anyway you spam over and over like Panettis. If you move you cannot use them either so that “problem” is a bit overblown here.
Furthermore a lot of this can be easily set up by CC like OFF which also doubles your fire damage later on and on my Sorcerer I also have high level Stun Jacks which stun for about 4 seconds, Flash Bang, BWC 1 pointer with Transmute for 25% less physical damage debuff, and double OOF/Stun Jack/Calidors and nearly Mirrors thanks to Time Dilation and 100% proc on Callidors.
Oh and what is preventing you from getting Devastation on an ARR build? My Sorceress has both and my Warlock has Doombolt alongside ARR.

Also there is nothing more fun than a Laser of doom melting everything moving suspiciously like an undead, cthonian or aetherial. Oh and Lasers do not pierce. They literally melt.
