Crate, I want to give you money!
Seriously. I do. You guys have made the best ARPG I’ve played in years (over 700 hours and counting), and I’ve recommended it to every one of my friends who has any interest in this genre of gaming. I wanted to buy the Crucible DLC (take my money, etc.), but there are two primary issues stopping me from doing so:
The first is that The Crucible is essentially a totally separate game mode. I’m not sure if this is an engine limitation, or some other consideration (perhaps multiplayer compatibility?) but it would be a big immersion breaker for me to have to continually jump between the main game and The Crucible content. I pictured the Crucible as a new addition to the game world - a place you would travel to and engage with for the amount of time you saw fit, and could then go back to various other areas of the game world, within the same game, if you so chose.
The second reason dissuading me from purchasing The Crucible is that it is not compatible with mods. Personally, though I do love the base game, I’ve found that the modding community has made a number of changes to the game that I find to be huge improvements, and I have no desire to return to the baseline experience. It is clear that your mod support is in general quite robust, as you’ve provided us with an excellent toolkit with which to generate content - and for that I am extremely thankful! But mods take on a life of their own, and when new content doesn’t support them, it’s a huge barrier for me to have any interest in purchasing them.
Obviously, this particular ship has already sailed. But I suppose the goal of this post is to say that I think in the future, I would be far more inclined to purchase DLC if it was an expansion to the main campaign map (such that I kept the feeling of exploring the game world and being part of an overarching story/mythos) and that the content would be compatible with mods.
I’m curious if other players feel similarly! Regardless, this game is still amazing, and thank you all for your hard work and dedication!
