I appreciate the grass adds to the realism but the game its not about the grass and the background. The graphics are very nice but should not distract from the game play. Maybe if the grass would be one third from the current dimensions, it would not be so distracting, cos now is too much clutter. It’s a good update but it’s too much.
Not sure what you mean, the grass size hasn’t changed - can you please post a screenshot of the grass you’re referring to so I can check it out?
It may have to do with an unintended effect of how shadows are working currently. We fixed an issue that was causing shadows not to be rendered under distant objects, such as trees but it also seems to have made some grass shadowing more extreme. We are working on a better solution. Maybe this isn’t what you mean though, so an image would be helpful.
Thanks for reply. First of all I must say I like the game and I appreciate how much work, passion and research is put in it. I think it was the sharp shadows adding a little extra and movement also, and I switch them on low. I am looking forward for updates. Thank you. Keep up the good work guys! The game is great!
I was comparing with the older graphics. Before, the land material it was mostly a texture with patches of grass and bushes and it was not distracting. In a recent update a lot of animated foliage was added and this is distracting. It is hard to look for hunter cabins, mines, forager shacks and other meaningful things in all that large animated foliage. I don’t have an older screenshot saved to compare with.

It is great “in the farlands” or less crowded areas, since it adds little cute details. Without them, the game would not have the same mood, so disabling completely is not an option. For another comparison, see:

Yes, this is what I meant about the grass. In my town I cut everything and I put roads also and nothing is growing. I am very happy about this foliage option in settings. Thank you! Yes, the game is great!

It was one of the very first features I have disabled the day I bought the game. It doesn’t even look cool and is annoying as F***.
