Perhaps take your own advice and look at the fifth reply in this thread, they thought it would be a mandatory change to their control scheme.
Sorry, I read too much into / misunderstood your message ![]()
I think you both need to cool it. Yes, that one reply did seem to imply that they thought WASD would be a replacement rather than an option, but they were corrected a couple more posts down. And no, I’m not going to read the whole thread again to check numbers for/against.
Since this question has been around for over 6 months now I suspect Crate have made their decision whether they implement it or not. And if so, when they add it to the game.
If they do decide against there’s always the WASD option in the DPYes tool you can use.

until it is not maintained anymore, like the other tool what was the name…
Grim Internals. Sadly the creator disappeared suddenly. I fear something happened to her as it wasn’t like her to just stop without telling players that she was going to do so. ![]()
ok thats super sad! but the point was just “DPYes wont be around forever”
DPYes has better tech than GI and should work even if not updated. It works with multiple versions and it looks like the author updates the program to add new features rather than for compability. Of course it can still stop working with some patch but the probability is much lower I believe. Anyone feel free to correct me because it’s been a while since I last used this program.
Same with Ulvar1
and Torzini
I also vote for the implementation of controller-based WASD movement to the PC version. Personally, it is much more comfortable as a control scheme. WASD + GrimCam (so I can move the camera up and down) is a blessing.
Maybe it will be added to some playtest before Fangs of Asterkarn ![]()
Just joined the forums specifically to weigh in on this topic now that I’m revisiting the game for the first time in many years thanks to the GUI scaling update as a 4K user (thanks for that btw).
I work as an accessibility specialist for a Fortune 50 company, and from that perspective, I’ve always seen WASD movement as a legitimate accessibility feature, not just a preference. This genre can be extremely demanding on the mouse hand over long sessions. Repetitive strain and fatigue are real concerns, and any option that helps distribute input between both hands should be encouraged. Carpal tunnel and arthritis fucking suck and I wouldn’t wish it on anybody.
I don’t think anyone is asking for a full No Rest for the Wicked or Path of Exile 2-style overhaul. This is an older game, and expectations should be reasonable. But offering a basic, optional WASD implementation would go a long way and help the game age gracefully as we’re approaching the final release.
Players were happy with a basic implementation of WASD as seen in Project Diablo 2, Titan Quest 2 and Diablo 4. There’s plenty of precedent for this and I hope we get it.
