Theorycrafted Chaos FoI Paladin that may be capable of over 100% ADctH, your thoughts?

As the title implies, I theorycrafted a chaos FoI Paladin using the Voidsoul set. I don’t know how well it would perform exactly, only that it has ludicrous lifesteal. Here’s the build (https://www.grimtools.com/calc/d2j1P1qN), anybody care to share their thoughts?

Edit: Just tried out a Deceiver variant with a potentially higher DPS. https://www.grimtools.com/calc/Q2zDJDdZ

It was discussed somewhat in Ya’s Chaos FoI Voidsoul Thread

Have a read through it. It probably answers a lot of your questions. It will only get better with the upcoming patch changes (whenever that happens).

I have read it before, but it can’t hurt to go over it again.

Every build has a hundred adcth on Ghoul.

Yes, but FoI normally has lowish weapon damage and wouldn’t benefit as much. This Build increases it from 32% weapon damage max to 66%. Just think about that for a second.

I don’t follow. I’m just saying it’s nothing special to have this adcth. Every build has it as soon as they take Ghoul.

As for FoI and wpn dmg, conduit is BiS. Other gear, 2nd ring and medal are wrong. And devotion-wise, Abomination is a must. Skill-wise, things like Haven, 10/10 Steel Resolve, Word of Agony for the radius, etc. I don’t remember which exclusive I took on my paladin, but Censure is pretty much the worst of the four. Components, Restless Remains on the gloves is a must, and Solael weapon component, as much as everyone hates it, is a must on paladin.

Also, FoI transmuter gives more dmg than converted lightning from Intensify. Tested.

I see what you mean about the about the equipment and I’ve made the changes. I thought that the conversion the equipment offered would be better, considering that it would result in 60% lightning and 100% fire converting to chaos which the build supports more than vitality. Also, I’m shifting to Deceiver for a better exclusive skill and Doombolt since the I’m not bothering with improving the shield.
Edit: Here’s the build. https://www.grimtools.com/calc/vNQOxl8V

You have 2 exclusive skills here.

Ah. Well now I feel like an idiot.

Well, you could still have two, but just use one at a time.

And do diddly squat, I shifted points to Witchfire for more damage. https://www.grimtools.com/calc/m233a742

I suggest looking at the break points again.

For example, why is FoI’s 4th node @ 13/12, while the base skill is 24/16?

The conversion from the belt you have also makes second rite more valuable than solaels because you get both %chaos and converted flat chaos.

Tangentially, as someone who’s tested DB extensively, I recommend dropping DB here.

DB is arguably an all or nothing skill - you make a build dedicated to it, or you forget about it.

And voidsoul is probably the worst DB set there is.

All it’ll do is interrupt FoI channelling.

Ditto with sigil.

There are several other mistakes here too…e.g. antivenom salve with a deceiver? C’mon mate…you have blood of dreeg and AoTG!!!

OA, phys res, and acid res!

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/vNQOxnXV Just did some skill point shuffling around and put restless remains on.

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/pZrOQQjN

This is the spec I’ve had drawn up, but never got around to testing.

Some key things to remember about channeling skills:

  1. You want to keep interruptions to a minimum. Ideally, this means having only enough skills in your rotation to proc all the devotions you need to proc.

  2. Slow res, slow res, slow res. If you get slowed, your casing speed decreases. If your casting speed decreases, your damage decreases.

  3. Look at the %crit value on the skill you’re using. If it’s high, OA is extremely important.

Take a closer look at word of renewal. I won’t give it away, but 12/12 isn’t its ideal breakpoint.

Same with 15/12 deadly aim.

EDIT: non mythical blood sigil of chthon > m. blood sigil

How did you get the extra OA?

devotions and blood of dreeg

And why’d you replace manticore with revenant?

because it’s better in every single regard

  • 10% less damage from undead = less damage from reaper
  • 15% more damage against undead = more damage against reaper
  • Casting speed, adcth
  • vit/chaos converted on skeles
  • energy leech

Not to mention how the nodes on it builds up to DG perfectly.

P.S: Why am I concerned about reaper?

I thought so too at first. But I tested it and the 10% total dmg gives more dmg than the converted lightning. Besides, it’s a chaos build but vitality dmg is not zero dmg here. Gear and Dying God gives you pretty decent global %vitality and Revenant and gear procs give some vitality rr. And transmuted FoI looks much better! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Paladin: Censure, Conviction, Mandate, Path. I went with Conviction. Mandate is also good but since FoI+Deadly Aim+DG already gives good crit dmg, flat oa is better imo.

That makes sense. And I agree, bloody red fire looks great while melting flesh.
