What is a “tick”?

Also, is there a glossary of GDJ* anywhere?

A tick or tic isn’t ‘gdj’ it’s pretty common in many arpg and mmo. AFAIK it means each time a dot (damage over time) effect deals damage or a spell like sigil of consumption, which is an aoe duration effect that deals damage every second or so (technically not a dot), those are ticks.

Some skills deal damage over time. Like 10 poison damage per second for 5 seconds. The damage would be dealt once per second.

Damage - 1 sec pause - damage - 1 sec pause - damage…

A tick is when the damage is dealt.
