Long time POE and d2/d3 player here. New to grim dawn.
Looking for a level/farm Build to get things rolling. (play what ever I want with gear in stash)
Whats the “to go” build here? What is the d2 sorceress or the Flameblast totem build for grim dawn?
I read a lot here in the guides already. But a lot of stuff seems outdated and/or for people with endgame gear in stash.
Till yet I have a level 25 2hand shaman, level 40 demo, and level 35 occultist.
The 2hand shaman I played first and I dont like his low single target dmg.
The Occultist was second, the Demo was the last char I tried. Both are fun with a “level build”. But I dont know where to go from now. To many options.
I read about: dee witchblade/witch hunter. Dual wield witch hunter, bwc sorceress, saboteur melee dual wield, 2hand ele shaman, pet shaman…
dont know what to choose for my goals with the first char. (farming stuff endgame with a cookie cutter build).
Pls Help me. Build should have good single target, nice aoe, overall smooth gameplay, can be squishy.
There is trully a great variety of builds, it was dificult for me to adjust at first too (being a Diablo player). Look for builds that have low gear requirment (that can be build with common/craftable legendaries/epics/faction items). There are quite a few builds like that. Commando is one of the strongest (and easiest to gear) classes in game, try him. Once you have one solid build you can start farming Ultimate (or even Crucible) and make some more exotic characters with harder to find gear.
(there is a shaman-based build in my signature, not hard to gear and can faceroll ultimate and most of Crucible).
Fire Strike has a ton of varieties, can be ranged or melee, and has MI and Faction gear that can support a few different versions. It’s also really straightforward to build. Take Demolitionist. Take whatever pieces of Fire Strike support your variety. Take whatever else you want.
If you’re looking for a simple faceroll build that helps you learn the game, has very low gearing requirements, has strong enough defenses to do well in hardcore ultimate, and can farm quickly and safely for gear in endgame, I put together a pet build that meets all these criteria. Here’s the link to that thread:
If pets are not your preferred character type, then there are quite a few other good choices out there. Also, the thread linked to above is a work-in-process, so a few edits and tweaks will be done. But, it’s very near complete, as are the journeys of Pets on Fire.
If you like demmo and want a smooth ride you can do a BWC build. Look in the compendium, there are a few good ones. Pyromancer is good and does good damage with transmuted bwc. Shield bwc commando less dmg but more tanky, and sorc is bwc spam. Wouldn’t reccomend a new player without end game gear.
Well, the main difference between PoE and GD is your “clear speed”.
In PoE, you are meant to clear whole screen full of mobs in less than 1 second, then move forward at turbo speed and repeat.
In GD, game pace is meant to be much slower - character’s movespeed is far lower, movement skills can only move you to an enemy, and have CDs, AoE isnt as high, etc.
From my experience, the strongest build in GD is 1-h+shield physical tank (Witchblade or Commando), using Cadence and Blitz. He not just has high single-target and decent AoE damage, but also is incredibly tanky, and can cap all CC resists to ensure smoth gameplay (no nasty stun, freeze, disruption, etc).
He is good even with average gear, but with great gear, he’s just a beast. He can facetank any content GD might throw at you.
For beginner, i’d suggest Witchblade, because it’s easier to cap resists for him. But he has to click more buttons in combat.
Sure, if you dont mind be tanky, then you may chose one among numerous offensive builds. They do high DPS and have high AoE (for example, DW poison WitchHunter), but they’re quite squishy.
A rifle Firestrike Commando or Pyromancer should be good, you could maybe even salvage your demo for that.
Melee is kinda king in GD but ranged is much saver and easier, they also keep buffing rifles.
thx for all your advice.
I will go for a fire strike dual wield saboteur. like the tri elemental saboteur von jajaja. finished normal with my demo today and will respec tomorrow into fire strike build.
