This might be causing some of the terrible stuttering and freezing delays I get as I have a lot of walls, and many double layer walls along a great deal of outer perimeter covering large areas of the map
Fantastic! I can’t wait to see this released. Had to stop my ongoing towns due to this a few days back. I build double walls, and have multiple circles of walls protecting industry, storage etc. Defense in depth.
That’s excellent.
I’ve noticed that the same checks seem to be happening on wall destruction too, hence the increased hitching during attacks
lol tell me you haven’t been hit with a 200+ raid, without telling me you haven’t been hit with a 200+ raid
“Siri, what is Defence in Depth?”
Walls, towers, garrison.

being intentionally dense, for those who don’t know
Not into your code, but sounds promising just by the numbers. Would this also affect overall performance or just wall updates? The street tool could need some love as well. Placing down streets cuts my FPS in half. Settlements above 500 become very laggy and with 700 it’s unplayable, at least for my setup. What I noticed is that my hardware is not even used efficiently. CPU at max 50%, GPU bored to death. So either there is some terrible bottleneck I can not see in my graphs or the hardware is not fully utilized at all.
Don’t get me wrong. I love the game so far, you are doing an excellent job and I have trust in Crate fixing this completely. Just curious, willing to help and maybe a little bit addicted to continue with late game.
And here is an interesting finding regarding performance potential: Let's talk about performance - notifications increase FPS - 0.7.5f
exactly the same, reached 580 it is impossible to continue playing on that map
i can’t play my main city until we get that fix now… it’s just… omg
I stop playing waiting for a fix too. Impossible to continue.
I think every time you build or destroy a wall, the game calculate your city defense score … because the raiders always attack the weak side.
So we wait a fix, nice game
I’m glad that I now know it’s because of walls. I might try building them in smaller chunks rather than massive sections at a time.
