[Tool] GD Stash

Thanks for responding. I went back to the OP and reinstalled to 1.12. It worked. My database from GDStash 1.10 is working w/ 1.12 as well. It looks like I was using an old shortcut to 1.10 while using today’s new patch, similar to what Avyctes noted above.

This looks like my mistake, and thanks to Mamba for pointing it out, and thanks to him/her for writing the tool in the first place.

I encourage other users of this to verify and post results.

EDIT: To be clear, this is with a character who played ~2 hrs on the new patch, killed stuff, picked up items, performed level ups, merchant transactions, and interacted w/ the stash.

I just tried the latest version and both the stash and char are read flawlessly. So anyone having problems with the new file formats is not on the latest version of GD Stash.

Thank you again, I really appreciate this slick tool.

Ok this one is probably all on me but I just either don’t remember or can’t figure out what I’m doing that I did differently when I installed it the first time.

I did download GDStash latest version (1.1.2) and I need to Import Database.

And Decompressing database.arz

And 3 errors pop-up not working. This is surely on my end but I just can’t seem to figure out what is causing it.

Disregard that one I actually went back to the first page and instead of taking the first link I took the Executable. Installed and opened it everything is right there like it should be.

Hello there mamba! Was really enjoying the mod but got this popup when I tried switching from Hardcore to Softcore on the Stash Transfer page. I does not seem to be able to find any of the softcore save stash, but can read the hardcore just fine. In addition, character editor lists all of my characters, except for the one I am playing, that one seems to be gone. Any advice?

With the release of GD 1.0.1.0 the file formats changed, which should be the reason why you cannot read the stash or see the char.

Files still using the old format work, but when you play they get automatically converted to the new format. For the new format you have to update the tool to its latest version.

Where does GD Stash save its data?
I have been using gdstash_v110k. But today it failed to open with an “unsupported version” message and doesn’t work any more.
I successfully downloaded and opened gdstash_v112.
Now I want to get the data from v110 into v112 or fix whatever the problem is with v110.

The data should ‘transfer’ automatically, all versions share the same data dir. No need to do anything.

The data is in C:\Users<username>\GDStash but as I said you do not need to do anything here.

If after updating to a higher version the program asks you to import the GD database again, do that
If there is a new GD version, also do this, regardless of any GD Stash updates

I’m actually running 2 different versions of Grim Dawn, 1.0.1.0 on Steam and an older version on GOG that I intentionally haven’t updated to the latest patch. If I update GD Stash to v112 to handle the latest file format will it cease to work with a pre 1.0.1.0 characters and transfer stash that I have in GOG?

No, it will always save the file back in the format it was in, unlike GD that always updates to the latest version (except for really old files from the beta days, which I believe GD does not even recognize any more).

Hi Mamba

Since few days i meet problems for open gdstash with java, so i come to you for help.

When i launch gdstash (i tried in differents versions) nothing happen, i looked in the process, in the task manager and i could saw a javaw.exe running but gdstash don t open. At last a window “java virtual machine launcher” appear and inform me about “a java exception has occured”.

My java and gdstash are downloaded in 64 bit, my os is a windows 7 64 bit, last week all was running correctly (i was usually on an gdstash v103) and i have changed nothing on my pc.

Do you have an idea with those elements or do you need more informations? i will try to help the best i can.

PROBLEM SOLVED! I have found a post from Damirkz who was describe a similar situation, so i have tried his solution and it s work now.

Sorry for the disagrement.

thanks

PS: sorry for my english i don t have a regular use. :o

what was his solution ?

Char Editor:
Not shown skills

After being absent for months and knowing about the new patch, I returned to GD. So, in patch notes they changed the save format and think I messed it up.

Thing is, I updated the game, updated the GDStash (importing database) and I receive 4 errors when trying to reload the Char Transfer tab. I played with one of my alts and created a new one. The 4 errors are:

Error reading the player.gdc from char folder (x2)
Version not supported java.io (x2)

So, I think the GDStash can’t load those 2 chars (the one I played and the one I created) for some reason and at the same time GDStash is not in current version for some reason.

Waiting for your help mamba!

I can confirm that the tool is not picking up the “save” folder anymore.
It keeps telling me to select and confirm my directories before doing anything. So it is not loading my characters that I have used or made post patch.

His post suggests to delete the GDStash folder in C:\Users<username>… you get the idea.

Don’t do this. The tool author has a text file in this location that says:

*************************************************************************

*** DO NOT TOUCH FILES IN THIS DIRECTORY! ***

*** FILES IN THIS DIRECTORY AND SUBDIRECTORIES CONSTITUTE A DERBY ***

*** DATABASE, WHICH INCLUDES THE DATA (USER AND SYSTEM) AND THE ***

*** FILES NECESSARY FOR DATABASE RECOVERY. ***

*** EDITING, ADDING, OR DELETING ANY OF THESE FILES MAY CAUSE DATA ***

*** CORRUPTION AND LEAVE THE DATABASE IN A NON-RECOVERABLE STATE. ***

*************************************************************************

One would assume deleting it, constitutes deleting the stash.

For the first one, can you show me what skills the char actually has ? I see all devotion skills (I think, did not really test all)

The second is not an error. You tried to import items that are already stored in the stash, and the tool prevents storing duplicates. Maybe I should make this a warning though.

if it shows 1.1.2 in the title bar it is the current version, otherwise it is not. Given that you cannot load the files, I assume you are not on the latest version.

As to why, I have no idea. Unzip the new version, overwriting existing files, and you should be fine… try unzipping in an empty dir, that should work too obviously and there is no chance of anything not being overwritten

you neex to have a shared stash in the save folder for it to be accepted. I would assume you have one though, but if you did it would be accepted, so please double check that.

Format makes no difference, the check is by filename only.
