So, I’ve noticed that the backup zips being made lately in my backups folder are almost a Gigabyte big for each backup. That shouldn’t be normal, right? I opened the zip and it looks like the userdata.db in the root of the zip and in the IADG folder are both massive in size, and not small like the txt file would suggest. Would playing with a mod possible cause this? I mostly play with grimarillion, and I have that mod selected as “loaded” under the Database/Mods tab.
Perhaps…
I would not worry too much though, once I find time to finish the new import/export format I’ll be using that for save games.
Should bring backups down below 5 MB.
Though I’ve yet to see a userdata above 200mb, it could very well be mod data.
Experimental build patch notes:
- Backups now includes “export.ias”, which is a lightweight backup of your items.
- The Calamity, Equilibrium and Ruination relics are now included as craftables
- Should no longer nag about your stash being full, despite transferring items successfully.
*) The ias file can be manually imported, to easily restore your items on a new PC.
For now, both the lightweight and the full db will be included in backups, until the new format has been fully vetted as sufficient.
Hey I have the newest version of GD IA and my icons aren’t showing, i have tried loading the vanilla database a couple of times as mentioned in the help tab but they still didn’t show. Any clue how to fix this? thanks for making this addon btw.
Since my last Update of the IA for GD it kinda bugged out and Im not sure what to do now
There only stands Unknown Items and it are above 500 which shouldnt be the case ^^
- Start GD
- Start IA [Since GD is already running, IA detects the install folder]
- Close GD
- Restart IA [IA tries to parse GD db, often fails if GD is running]
- Mods/database
- Vanilla
- Load database [IA may not have parsed it, important that GD isnt running]
- Parse item stats
Try that exact sequence of events, I suspect it’ll solve it =)
Thanks Pete. I was having the same issue as Croud and that quickly fixed it right up!
Thanks alot Pete it worked directly!
Patch notes experimental branch:
- Added support for the new recipe format
- Fixed a bug causing duplicate recipes to be shown
I was about to start using it, but i have one question. For example, i have several items of the same legendary, some of which have better stats and some have worse, and then i send them to the assistant. When i take one out, will it be the one with the best stats? Or random? Or it makes them identical?
Which one of your N items you get when you transfer one single item, is random.
But if you hit transfer all, you’ll get back all the items you put in, with their exact stats.
IA never changes your items. They always remain exactly the same, with their exact stats.
(Even though IA isn’t able to display their exact stats, it retains them)
I see, thanks. I remember, it was possible to modify items in TQ, did Crate code them here into some serial seed to make it impossible to view and modify them outside of the game? I was dreaming about an opportunity to merge items with the same name to receive a single item, which takes best stats from both of them. And also some collection/wardrobe function for epic and legendary items, something similar to your tool, but in game with it’s interface and an option of merging items. This would rise the item hunting/collection to a new level, but this suggestion was never heard by authorities, while modders seem to be unable to make this complicated system.
That was not possible in TQ either. TQ used the exact same logic for item stats as GD does.
It was possible to modify items still. Could change affixes and relics and their effects.
Well, I don’t know it’s only me or not, after the latest update the tool was much slower than before when searching (average 8.2 seconds searching time)
So I reverted to old version and now it works as usual (less than 1 second searching), I attached a log file which I saved before uninstalling update version.
Anyway this tool is so awesome, I can’t play GD without IA now.
Thank you Lord!
you can do that in GD as well. As I said, TQ and GD items are pretty much identical (GD has enchantments in addition, otherwise they are identical)
Excuse me Grimduck but how did you roll back to the previous version? I am having the exact problem after yesterday’s update, every search takes 10 seconds i cannot use it if it stays like that.

That’s the latest version, hopefully with better performance.
http://grimdawn.dreamcrash.org/ia/GDItemAssistant.exe
That’s the previous version.
Patch notes on the latest:
- Fixed some performance issues when displaying buddy items / recipes
- Increased max level to 100 in preparation of the coming expansion
- Recipes now contains the flag ‘isExpansion1’
- Can now sort by level
- Some improvements in how recipes and buddy items are shown [work in progress]
Sorting by level and recipe/buddyitem UI changes are brought to you by a third party dev who’s been familiarizing himself with the IA codebase =)
Ok, the beta sadly still has performance issues for me. However I installed the ‘previous version’ you posted above after uninstalling the one I had and now it works like before. It will do for now. Thanks!
Hi slipperypete,
I’m trying to restore my Item Database and characters from a backup after I factory reset my computer. A file titled the day of the week was sent to a drop box folder. So far I’ve installed Grim Dawn and was able to move the save folder (from the backup) so that Grim Dawn recognized the saved characters, but I’m not sure what I need to do to get all of the items that I stored with GDIA.
The help section tells me to move a userdata.db file, but I didn’t see any of those in the backup files.
I have Monday.zip which contains Save folder, items.backup and “YES THIS FILE…”.
I’ve tried renaming items.backup and moving to the Data folder/reloading the DB but that didn’t seem to do the trick.
Hope I’m not missing something too simple… thanks!
