I’m playing a map now, with a distance to trader issue. I’m situated on a peninsula, sort of, with a large lake spanning from the south edge of the map, to the east. Since traders spawn on the other side of the lake, by the time they arrive at my trade post they’re already been on the map too long. I hear the bell, see the trader notification and even if I pause the game that very instant, the trader already turned around and starts his way back. This is all still ‘early summer’. So I don’t understand why he turns around already. Plenty of time left for trading. This way I’ve missed every other trader, which makes starting up a huge pain (especially when you don’t have any claypits and charcoal around.)

Trading post in all my new maps has a lost trader in tab one for me also. tier 1 is fine it happens as soon as you upgrade and can make it impossible to get very needed goods. in my case it was tools.
restarted 2 maps.
didn’t upgrade until well into the next year. nothing seems to stop it from happening.
played on easy mode, passive, medium and small map.
If you upgrade to Tier 2 while a Trader is present this can cause the Trader to be duplicated and sometimes the first slot to be locked. The only workarounds that I know of are don’t upgrade with a trader present, and deleting and rebuilding the Trading Post can sometimes fix the issue if the slot is already locked.
