new to the game, and trying to get some better gear for my character.
just transitioned from a arcane into battlemage, but really lacking a good shield, really lacking.
would love to find a “Elementium” or any decent shield for that matter,
and whas just wondering if theres any locations thats better then others to find them, or is the drop rate for it completly random ?

There are lots of good shields but there drops are random. Just keep farming.

considdering im only lvl 27 i whont get anything like you linked for quite a while 
only reason i chose a second class whas after getting stuck at the boss in the misery doungeon.
dieing 30 times in a row to the same enemy made it abondenly clear i needed more survival
even thoug i had done just fine up untill that point, but ill keep grinding somewhere else.
You’re a little bit low level to have seen any of the decent blue shields. Don’t really look for much until after level 40. For now, you should be looking for green shields. They drop often enough and some are great. Block Chance and Block Recovery are good things to look for. Green spectral shields have vitality resist on them which is awesome at that level.
You should always choose a second class. One might sound fun but it will never be as good as 2 masteries. You lack stats to use gear, lack hp for survivability and have less skill options to work with.
If it’s your first time I would reccomend following a build. It will help you so you can start farming easier and get better equipment
Also if your finding survivability a problem them focus on resistances. Aether is less important at your stage. Poison/acid, vitality and chaos are the most important at that stage.
Since your a battlemage get maivens sphere of protection and some skills from the soldier tree. Blade arc is great to lvl with and will clear fast too.
There are lots of cool shields and certain affixes are exclusive to shields. Just pick whatever is best and keep upgrading while you level. Also consider to use shield specific components.
While soldier has skills to support a shield build, you might also need to review your choice of constallations. You find the ones for shields only on the right side.
