(Minor irritation, sure, but it’s been irritating for so long.)
When you start the We Need Food quest, you get two “optional” entries in the active quest log for the two “possible” routes north.
You find the bridge at Twin Falls broken. It’s broken. There’s no repair option. You can’t collect repair materials. You have overhead text that says it’s broken. With the new map, you have dialog about how it’s broken. Its feet are nailed to the perch. It’s passed the pearly gates and joined the choir eternal.
And yet the “option” to cross the non-bridge stays open in the active quest log until you complete the Smuggler’s Gap option.
I doubt anyone ever in any version of this game has continued to soldier on, desperately hoping against hope that a means of repair will show up, forced further and further afield until finally, regretfully, passing through Smuggler’s Gap and moving on to the next stage of the quest.
Sure, people have asked for changes in later versions of the game or by the modding community, but that sort of thing shouldn’t affect the in-game quest log.
Every other feature of the active list updates cleanly as the game continues. The persistence of this one option in the active list just makes the list - presumably kept by the PC him or herself - appear sloppy or stubborn to the point of stupid.
Why you gotta make me feel like I’m playing somebody stupid? Please fix this.
Actually i agree it’d be nice if the quest gets updated properly. But the history behind it is that apparently till the Final Release, the bridge was cross-able. Didn’t need any repairs
Yeah, I’ve been around here for a long while and played the game since it was available to kickstarters. I don’t remember that bridge ever being cross-able.
I do remember something that was said about the way the areas grew during development, that even if they wanted to make the bridge connect the geography no longer makes it feasible.
Edit: All the more reason to make the quest update properly. There is no point in giving players a false hope about it.
I joined with Build 31. The Patch notes said something like an earthquake has erupted in Old Arkovia and the adventurers may need to rediscover the Twin Falls Rift Gate. So, what was changed then if not for the bridge?
The bridge has never been crossable at any time. This has been a significant source of irritation for long-time players. The quest should update when you see that the bridge is broken.
They completely remade a large section of the map between the Twin Falls and Broken Hills riftgates. The Twin Falls riftgate needed to be rediscovered because it was moved.
To add information, Broken Hills and the Twin Falls area use to be directly connected above ground and the back exit in Cronley’s mine just led back to the Broken Hills.
