So I was trying to find an aether melee with the Necro. Originally I was going to go reaper, but don’t see much beyond acid. Next I considered which spammable skill I would use and came up with a Savagery Ultos build, using the conduit to make it Aether, and I have some decent lifesteal (28%).
I managed to get resists up, and feel like I could get through Ultimate, but by no means is this optimized.
Any glaring holes that I missed? Am I wrong, and this is actually terrible? I still have 38 pts left over, and I imagine they will go defensive/healing places.
You want 24 points in Savagery at least so you can get that last charge.
Stormcaller’s is definitely better for its massive crit damage and your shaman +skills.
I’ve 0 experience with Necro skills or how they scale, but Siphon Souls doesn’t seem like a strong pick. Mark of Torment, too. I’d probably pull points out of those, get Wendigo Totem to 12/12, get the Brute Force line (assuming that the conduit modifier converts damage beyond the base damage of Savagery), and then your gearing/devotions also need work. You probably want to get points into Spear of the Heavens (don’t have to take the actual devotion proc but it’s cool AF, just want the crit damage), Dying God is another strong choice.
Your OA is also honestly extremely terrible. Change your ring/neck augments to Survivor’s Ingenuity. There’s definitely even more that could be done beyond what I said, and I probably got a few things wrong, left them out since I’m in a hurry, and I don’t know Necro, but I’m going to bed now so I wish you luck in fixing this up.
As a general rule of thumb, +% damage increases aren’t worth solely itemizing for compared to flat damage increases or OA increases. You’ll naturally get so much +% damage that a 50% increase actually translates to more of a 2-5% increase to your overall damage. Keep this in mind when picking out items for it.
