There are numerous topics about Steam usage for Grim Dawn (for, against, who cares). Now GoG has come into the mix.
Many people in the U.S. (yep, me) live in rural areas and have so-called “broadband” that is only marginally better than dial-up for bandwidth and speed. Downloading a game of any size from any site can turn into a frustrating and time consuming proposal. Online play is a far-off dream. Connection re-sets occur more often than not, even while just web-browsing.
I would not mind downloading Grim Dawn from GoG, but my limitations are listed above. There are many questions about game discs-will they ever be available anywhere? Can they be special-ordered at some point? I (we, the under-served) don’t need fancy packaging or jewel cases, just the basic game with an ability to update it. Maybe this disc question has been answered somewhere, but I never found it.
He, he. I remember updating Titan Quest on dial-up. God, I feel old…
From what I have read, it is possible for the future to have a physical copy, but are waiting on that in the moment. But grim dawn , once downloaded and updated, is playable offline for sure.
