Unimaginative Skelemancer Cabalist

  1. Flat vit damage to all pets is the winner here but it’s a great skill to proc Shepherd’s as well.

  2. The only two interesting things about Ravenous Earth for this build is that it is an extremely good Raise the Dead proc and it’s flat RR.

  3. Spectral Wrath is an amazing skill! One of my favorites for Necromancer honestly and yes it’s reduction to vit and aether amplify the vit and aether damage your pets do. I wish I had just a couple points in the build to include this beauty but imho, they are better spent elsewhere.

New video added.

I am not saying that something OP, but how this combo interacting reminds me Thermite Mines + Meteors situation. So personally I expecting some adjustments how flame torrent and skeletons work together. But may be I am wrong…

Flame Torrent has no cooldown and works appropriately with skeles. Meteors always did have a cooldown and was not working appropriately with thermite mines. I just don’t see the comparison.

The problem I see with the flame torrent and skele situation is that it doesn’t work any better at trash clearing than LOTS of other stuff in the game, and as well as it works on big targets, it doesn’t work well enough to let skelemancer handle some of the new big bads that many other builds have cleared already but skelemancer can’t (or at least hasn’t yet).

If that’s OP, it’s going to be a really rocky ride for necro summoners going forward… lol

Of course, I may just be biased but then again, I am running my other two vanilla summoners up to 100 now and I don’t see the big fuss over the skele issue in that light (except for the early game, which is undeniably broken by going all in Raise Skeleton and Undead Legion. Sorry Skelemancer fans, it just is).

EDIT: I think the flame torrent thing was probably well understood and accepted in testing (just guessing) but players taking some of the steps to counteract skele attrition was not fully explored and that’s the real “problem” if there even is one. Just my hunch on the situation. Nothing to back that up.

The difference is the Mines were getting around the devotion CD. Flame Torrent is working exactly as advertised.

You are spot on.

My trek from Barrowheim to the Steelhead District today was probably my toughest slog so far. Definite jump in difficulty. I got through with the odd death but some really dangerous enemies especially once your start doing sidequests. Got clean two shot in Dalia’s sidequest by a purple name demon (not the quest mob). Even Beast nemesis didn’t hit me that hard.

I have hit 100 and will be finishing up the last few quests tomorrow and then after that will have to have a think.

One idea is a poison pet build. Eye of the Guardian on Skeletons, Murmur and fitting in Abomination in there somewhere. There is some really good itemization for it as well. Maybe even transmute Blight Fiend and get some CDR and just constantly resummon for Blight Burst, melee DoT, Tainted Eruption proc and then Death explosion.

If you are constantly kiting bosses or if your pets are not living long then you need maximum pet damage per attack. DoT builds are better at that.

Let me tell you something about poison pet cabalist… Do it.

It’s an absolute mystery to me that anyone is talking skelemancer nerfs (excepting early game) in light of my success with poisonmancer in testing.

If I don’t see a good guide come along at some point I may do it myself.

You get to entirely disregard so much of the usual pet build concerns, like pet resist, maintaining their health, managing much of their formation and movement, etc… Different and fun for sure.

Then again. I’m enjoying it enough I’m kind of hoping a guide doesn’t materialize. Otherwise people will whine about that one as well… :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT: Gratz btw. Yes, skelemancer doesn’t come into his own for some endgame xpac without serious gearing. A point seemingly overlooked by many…

Heh too lazy to write a guide.

Just came to me while I was doing a Benny Hill impression around Mountain King (with varied success) that my pets are only hitting sporadically and so DPS is limited. Sure while the boss is stationary (or stuck) pet flat damage is brutal but when they are mobile eh.

I mean I could burn the beast Nemesis for most of his health bar before my pets died but then I could never get enough pet uptime to finish it off.

I’m entirely certain you already know this, Maxzero, but I’m saying it for the newer players: If you are having a difficult time with a certain bad guy in the game due to being forced to run for your life, practice running around your skele blob as much as possible instead of away from them. It’s sort of the opposite tactic of skele parking. Instead of nuking bad guys by ramming demonic fire skeletons down their throats, you force them to run the gauntlet instead, which allows your skeles to stay on DPS and also lash the baddie with flame torrent as it chases you. It’s super effective.

Well, then no worries and I will be glad that testers are doing their job.
If someone thought I was talking about nerf of this build I apologize, It was just attempt to spark discussion about situation where 8-14 sources (skeletons) can proc constellation.

What do you recommend out of these two? As you mentioned, any + to raise skeletons is superior - even to the purple item I have equipped?

how bout this medal?

This build rocks.

I was a Necro + shaman build but this calbalist is way more better.

The warden mace. All day.

EDIT: Unless you’ve somehow already got Raise Skeleton to 26.

It’s a fine medal and a perfect filler until you get combat medic.

I’m considering a couple of these changes for hardcore. It’s still a full pet build like the main build, but I’ve changed the skills slightly. The only difference between the links are devotions choices. Make sure and toggle permanent and temporary buffs for resistances.

The first link is more defensive and it doesn’t need Ravenous Earth. Spirit could be dropped to 19 for 3 more physique. Some augments could be swapped out for more defense. The Spellscorched Plating components are backup in case the Raven dies but could also be changed. I’m not entirely sure if Scaled Hides are worth it. Living Armor and Binding’s of Bysmiel are alternatives that the main build uses.

EDIT: New devotions. Dying God > Howl of Mogdrogen
http://www.grimtools.com/calc/4NOYG5KV

Can you breifly give an explanation on why you chose Revenant and Dying God over Typhos and Mogdrogen? Fairly new to the game so any explanation would be fantastic! The 31% speed from mog seems so huge as well as the speed/daamage from Typhos. Is there something I am missing? Rev doesn’t seem nearly as good for what you have to put into it as well as Hungering Void having a 20 sec CD it feels that the damage/speed from the other two would benefit you more in the long run. Any thoughts on this, or have you tried any of them?

In short, I tried them and they and they don’t perform as well. Feel free to try them yourself and compare, but when it comes to tested DPS output, the build I have posted up is the overall best in my testing. I have considered going more into depth over this subject in the guide when it comes to my hypothesis on the “why this works this way” but it’s an overlong guide to begin with and I am up front about the fact I tested these things and settled on what I am presenting.

I noticed in your video that your skeleton count is 10, is it still posible?

I now have the entire lost soul set, 26/12 skeleton and 17/12 undead legion, but i am still on 9 skeletons.

Edit: you can stack seal of might aura!???

Yes it’s entirely possible. The breakpoint for 10 skeletons with the lost souls gear is 20/12 Undead Legion.

There’s another breakpoint but for this particular build it’s not worth sacrificing everything else for one more skele imho.

Seal of Might question. Yes. Yes you can.
