What? Of all those sets only Rimetongue and maybe Ulzuin are weak.
Infernal champion, Clairvoyant, Radaggan all have crucible builds, though Fluff hasn’t added his Radaggan builds (yes there are two) to the compendium. Dagallon is really strong as well. Someone (I can’t remember who) even posted a build that makes use of both ranged and trap aspects of the set. Allagast has the onr from thejabrixone if I’m not mistaken, but it’s real easy to build a concept around it. You get almost zero cooldown on box and TSS.
I can agree that Mageslayer looks weak on paper, but can’t say anything about it from practice side. It does grant a huge RR, so there’s the massive upside of this set. 30% fire resist, 15% cold and lightning resist reduction is something you won’t find anywhere else, most likely.
I was a bit provocative in the choice of words. Infernal, Clairvoyant and Mageslayer shouldn’t be on my list. But, as comparison, Krieg, Light’s Guardian and Justicar for instance have dozens of builds.
There was indeed an interesting thread on Dagallon and a good build was submitted afterwards.
I’m really interested in the Allagast build. If you could link me the build ?
I seem to remember Fluff saying Allagast could do Gladiator 150 before 170 was introduced and 150 was much steeper in terms of requirements (DoTs/Tanks etc.).
Yeah okay, that makes sense. Shame though, with ALL the recipes that can drop, changes that this one dropes are pretty low, so the item won´t get used a lot.
If I could pick a best set in the game atm, it’ll probably be Justicar. Set is very good. Aside from that, are LD and Krieg really that good? Krieg only has 2 builds where both are almost identical. Both aren’t really fast builds, even though they’re very tanky builds. LD is better but Clairvoyant is stronger, imo.
This isn’t necessarily the case. I’ve had weapons/armour pieces drop as themselves both before and after the expansion.
Ones that I remember having this happen with are Damnation and more recently with Cataclysm’s Pact where I got the Blueprint for both after having them drop as items (did not trade for them either).
Justicar doesn’t force 2 valuable slots: weapon and ammy, which is no doubt why it is so common. Plus it adds some nice resists. = Very flexible, as a result.
Ulziun’s does seem to have some very decent attack bonuses… but I’m guessing it sees limited interest simply because the set bonuses are so deep and it forces a style and weapon that is of limited interest.
