I have expirienced crashes when raiders were attacking the village. It happened three times already and repeated after loading latest autosave and after starting a new playthrough. The game crashed in the middle of a fight every time on raider attack event. I was not able to proceed further than year 4 or 5.
I got one of the crashes recorded on stream. Link to the stream with crash timing is attached below:
Game crash on ~1h26m
We have pushed an old playtest build to the debug branch to help determine whether this issue is a recent development, or something older. As we are not able to reproduce this crash internally, you are effectively our data set!
Please try it out and let us know if you are still experiencing these crashes in the debug build. It will say v1.0.0p11.
In your Steam library:
Right click Farthest Frontier.
Choose “Properties”.
Select the “Betas” tab.
Enter the access code “42HPFe7duhHN”.
Hit the “Check Code” button.
Select the debug branch in the dropdown box.
Thanks!
Test run on debug version was successful. Game did not crash.
Just to confirm the game version was v1.0.0p11?
Yes v1.0.0p11
I encountered the same issue.
When I tried v1.0.0p11, it did not crash.
Video of the game crash
Good to know. Thanks. And if you roll back to the live build and try the mono launch option, do the crashes still occur?
When I tried the mono launch option in live build, it didn’t crash.
Thanks for checking.
Could you opt back into the debug branch for us? There is a new build in there (v1.0.0d3). Please let us know if you are crashing in this build.
I’ve tried on v1.0.0d3. Seems fine, game did not crash.
One more time for good measure, please.
We have pushed v1.0.0d4 to debug. Please try it and let us know if the crashes persist or not.
Thank you!
It didn’t crash in v1.0.0d4 either. It seems to be fine.
V1.0.1 Hotfix 1 has just gone live for everyone. Thanks for helping us with the debug builds, all.
If anyone is still experiencing these crashes in v1.0.1, please let us know!
I also encountered a similar problem,The same situation as the video, collapsing at the first moment of hitting someone,I have installed a mod to modify the terrain,If I delete the mod and the directory associated with it, it will be normal
Seems like game crash in the same circumstances has returned in version v1.0.5
Clip on twitch with recorded game crash
FYI I’ve just checked on v1.0.5a - the bug still reproduces
The same issue here with v1.0.5a
The fact that the issue doesn’t happen in the Mono build makes us think that there is a bug with the IL2CPP generated code. The IL2CPP build takes the managed C# project and builds it as a native C++ app. We do this to squeeze out a little more performance. The downside is that it’s possible a IL2CPP build could potentially crash whereas the Mono (C#) build would not.
Unfortunately, we don’t have much control over what native code gets created. It’s possible that Unity has addressed or at least changed the code that this process creates in newer versions of Unity.
I’ve built a version using the latest version of Unity (significantly newer that what we have been using) and pushed it to the “debug” Steam branch. If you’d like to try it, I’d be interested to see if it fixes this crash. Keep in mind that we have done little testing with versions compiled with this newer version of Unity, so it’s possible there might be other issues above and beyond what’s in the standard version.
To install the debug branch version follow these instructions and let us know what you find.
Right-click on the Farthest Frontier icon and click “Properties…”.

Select “Betas” and then type “42HPFe7duhHN” into the “Private Betas” section and then click “Check Code”.
Then select “debug - debug build branch” if it doesn’t do it automatically.
You can always go back to the regular build of the game by setting that back to “None”
Great job on putting out a Debug build so quickly, using the current Debug option in MONO, even with a saved game, so far I have no crashes reported on reloading previous Newgame save, when fighting Raiders. But trying to load same game in “Normal Mode” the game launcher crashes to Steam and generates a page of
Please excuse the extra added rubbish in screenshot, MS Paint was being a muppet.
