I’m not that familiar with the cold side of things, but I will briefly say that I note a lot of “on crit” applications.
If you want to see some of that in effect, you will likely have to up your OA by maybe 700+ in Ultimate
However, even though the meta is “crit everything”, it’s possible to make a build where crits are not essential. But you’ll have to define the build accordingly (items and procs).
Needs a lot of work. RR is bad, you’re stacking cast speed but you aren’t casting any spells, HP pool is low, etc. etc.
I mean, if you don’t want to read the links we are sending you, that’s cool…but you can’t expect the replies we give you to change.
@Hammyhamster: I believe he doesn’t have AoM. From what I gather, an OA of ~2.4k should be more than healthy in vanilla.
https://www.grimtools.com/calc/q2MDwx4N is what I’d do. (resists aren’t fixed though)
but i did read all what u have sent to me… i dont understand what wrong with this build ?
Not enough Offensive Ability (OA). You need a high OA to get Critical hits (crits) to trigger several of the abilities you have there. You also need to focus on Resistance Reduction (RR) for all builds.
You should try to get the French language pack to work
i feel like im usless shit :’(
well, you shouldn’t. I’ve got nearly 1,000 hours into this game, and 0 build guides posted. Not everyone has the time, memory, or knowledge to put together a great build.
You should play through the game completely through ultimate with a couple of posted builds, and tell us which ones they were, and what you liked about them. Then we can explain how the build works.
I’m guessing it’s mostly a language barrier, and even as a fluent English speaker, I find some of the wording of skills in Grim Dawn to be difficult to make sense of.
This by far. The best way to learn about theorycrafting is to play through the game and get an idea for what is going to work and what won’t and how effective something is going to be.
Blindly making builds without at least trying some of them isn’t going to get you anywhere at this rate.
just dont be… every arpg has some learning curve.
i am playing arpg games since 22years nonstop even i learn tons of things while reading guides and watching new builds.
learning never ends and most important thing is you cant success without trying and failing
creating strong build needs some crucial things
1- good debufss; like resisht shred, da shred, oa shred
2- good buffs, like pneumatic burst hungering void healing rain and such
3- strong defensive line, armor phys res CC res, fumble impaired aim
4- strong offense, high oa reasonable crit high flat wep dmg etc
goes on…
and by no means posted guide can be equially success’d by other players, thats the major thing i care about my guides aswell.
so dont hesitate make tests, keep trying in game after some time you will feel the difference like,
- my dmg seems low
- my defense seems bad
- i am struggling vs fabius i prolly lack cold RR
etc…
i dont remember much about pre AoM expansion numbers at all but, you want at least 2600 2700 oa and more Resist Reduction than your current format… ideal RR is around 80 to 120 if its possible.
Don’t get discouraged!! Theres a lot of different mechanics to learn. It takes time. I like your creativity and enthusiasm. Keep at it bud, read up and you will get there
BROOOOOOO.
Don’t feel that way man. Firstly, I apologize if I came across as a condescending ass hole. It really wasn’t my intention to be one.
Secondly, this game is hard AF.
If you have read the mechanics and the such, what would help is looking at how better players have built their toons.
If you see devotion/gearing/skilling options you disagree with, just ask!
They’ll give you an explanation. And while this doesn’t automatically make them right, it’s a nugget of information worth taking into consideration while you do your builds.
P.S. I can’t tell you how many failed builds I have if only because I’ve lost count. I would to strip them naked and use them as packmules.
I’m not sure if you were there for my loot giveaway, but the troupe of naked toons which came into the server to dump loot on the ground were all failed builds.
Chin up, my friend!
@feelgodstoya: 2600-2700 OA is a bit high don’t you think? Especially how that’s the agreed upon OA minimum for AoM.
ty all of you guys im going to ply again the game to make the build into the game not in build calc…
Just do this basically but with chillspikes instead of shard of beronath. There are a few other changes i;d make it increase frostburn. Overload btw is more powerful than elemental awakening in this regard so i’d max it
PS: I think 2700 OA is minimum for campaign. Edit: ( Just realized it’s lvl 75 gear, do you not have xpac?)
He does not. It’s Pre-Aom hence my suggestion for shard or beronath
nah sorry i doont have the xpack, oa maximum pre aom is 2700 ? idk how can i increase my oa to 2700 :o its seems impossible
Here i changed just a few things… neck to peerless eye of beronath. and changed skill points around a bit https://www.grimtools.com/calc/RVvKYwpZ
for pre-aom should be fine
I think 2.7k OA pre-AoM would be considered amazing. It is not necessary at all.
Intuitively, I’d say that 2.4 - 2.5k is sufficient.
Only if you had a decent DA shred, vs bosses at least
Fluff is right, pre-expansion I’d aim for around 2700 OA including DA debuffs on my characters, some people went for higher like 2900 or more. The stat that took a major jump in Ashes of Malmouth though was DA, pre-expansion you’d want around 2200-2400 to be safe/mostly uncrittable but could do work with around 2000 if you were careful.
Man. I guess I’m a noob.
I might have to reevaluate my crafting process, because I find it quite difficult to break 3k OA (before procs like deadly aim and the such, of course).
