Stat-wise Volcanum is probably the most “Meh” 75 level epic medal. The only interesting thing about it is that it got a proc - Magma Orb. But once I finally decided to replace Empowered Enchanter’s Insignia with Volcanum (lost around 3k DPS) it was quite a shock how small the proc actually is. Literally had to remove a few other procs just to have a good view of it.
It’s just when I first got Volcanum and read that it got “Magma Orb” proc I instantly assumed it’s something fun and amazingly looking, like Volcanic Orb from TQ or Zarthuzelan’s fire bombs. Especially since it got a cooldown of 3 seconds - it’s reasonable that a super showy skill would need a higher cooldown to not litter a screen with special effects too much. The way it is it would look more fitting as an in-built extra effect to Greater Fireball, for example.
Proc’s damage itself doesn’t look that amazing as well.
Yup, had two on my now-deceased AAR Sorc and recently it dropped for my Fire Strike 2H Commando. Same story like yours actually - I had four mules with stash filled with legendaries before I got my first Volcanum.
Also recently was surprised with Arcane Eclipse drop, another thing I didn’t knew existed.
I use volcanum in my bwc build (mostly because volcanum gives +3 to thermite mines).
Than I need more survivability - I change volcanum to mark of divinity.
Level 75 legendaries are at least used by diehard fans, cheaters and multiplayer crucible farmers. This medal is only used by one person, according to this poll.
I get your point, it’s just the way you say it automatically makes me assume that you mean working on late game content is not worth it because most players would never see it. I happen to disagree with this.
