Uhm…I just faced the Avatar of Mogdrogen. Can our warder build tank the guy? I tried. I failed miserably. Thus I modified my build and decided to spend my remaining 35 physique (all but 2 just in case) to amp my hp since I read sometime ago that the magic number for gear that requires spirit for our guy is around 322.

Also purchased some faction gear, a helm and shoulder armor which has good health and retaliation bonus attributes. Dawngaurd lightning based armor keeps dropping, used that for a while but it doesn’t complement our pierce and acid retal.

Perhaps facing a “god” is a bad idea.

I also can’t defeat him. His pets are the main problem, not him. Also, what difficulty? I’m guessing he’d be possible to defeat in normal and MAYBE elite. Definitely not ultimate.

I’m playing on ultimate. Yeah, his Briathon and bull summons keeps going on in waves. In my case I live off monsters coming at me but for some reason they stop attacking. I’m not sure what’s happening? It’s like mid way while charging towards me they get confused and stunned? I see these white skulls over their heads as well and I have no idea what that means? And my gear doesn’t have anything that would make em behave like that. The only thing I could think off is my reflect that may be causing it.

Edit:

I found out what’s causing the monsters to stop attacking me. I do have gear that makes them terrified or confused for 5 sec. It a new legendary drop I’m using called “Pretty Great Pants”. Ugh. Time to look for an alternative.

I’m also thinking of spending a point in blindside. I get overwhelmed when the monsters swarm at me. A few times Menhir’s will activated I couldn’t get away to heal from the monster density.

This has been a great build so far. I started a few weeks ago and have a few chars in elite, but they feel too squishy. So far this guy has been great at both killing and not dying.

Thanks also for the updated leveling and devotion section; quite a lot of work has been put in, I can tell.

I know there are trade threads for this, but they seems quite far above where I am. I have all the Perdition pieces except the faceguard. If anyone has one, I have an extra set of gloves and shoulders. (Ensgnblack on steam)

Mog is a caster (and that means ranged) and he heals himself…2 things working against this build in regards to damage vs ranged/caster. However on my build I can facetank him just fine with no need to run around. I can beat him on normal using reflect gear and walking up to him and cranking out weapon strikes. This will take stupid long though. Sheer determination works on elite as well (and takes longer), but again he couldn’t hurt me. So I suppose if someone had time on their hands…eeesh. On Ultimate it’s a stalemate. I can’t kill him and having modified my character a bit, he can’t kill me. But see below, multiplayer!.

MULTIPLAYER!

Mog I can facetank in multiplayer with the right combo of people. So…in multiplayer my job is to attract his damage and his pets while others who aren’t as tanky dropped the damage. Modified my build before I went in since my job was tank. I lowered my retaliation quite a bit, added reflect and upped my health to over 30k. I upped my armor to over 3k, and my resists to 89% across the board. Added more circuit breakers so I always had one that was not on cooldown. Guardman’s spaulders, Mercy Amulet, Meat wall, Fateweaver’s leggings, Tinker’s ingenuity, and Empowered Alchemist belt, Empowered Lichguard on weapon swap (There’s probably more/better ones but these are what I have) in addition to Menhir’s will and Turtle Shell (turtle shell doesn’t really count). Replaced messenger of war with tree of life and healing rain never stops. Plus buffs from other players (and my buffs like field command, and mog’s pact helped them). Occultist had blood of dreeg for group heal, etc. So mog lights me up like a Christmas tree, his pets swarm in and I rotate through circuit breakers

However, since I only play hardcore finding groups, specifically those that know what they are doing and don’t mind risking their HC character are few, especially in Ultimate. I have some friends that have been working on some HC characters, I’m hoping when they rank up a bit more we can go for it, even on elite as I haven’t done this since before release.

Mog is a caster (and that means ranged) and he heals himself…2 things working against this build in regards to damage vs ranged/caster. Face tanking is fine on normal with no need to run around, with some modification to my guy this is also true on elite but requires ALOT of time. Ultimate is another story. Multiplayer should work with modifications to your guy to prioritize tank over damage (as those in your group should handle damage). Because I play HC I haven’t found a group this far in Ultimate HC who was also willing to risk their HC characters so here goes my theorycrafting combined with tests on solo.

On solo me and Mog are at a stalemate. He can’t kill me nor I him as I’ve made some very tanky modifications to Hetzer (more than he already had as shown on page 1). In multi my job is tank and to lure the damage of Mog and his pets and the job of my group is to dish out the damage. With that in mind I can sacrifice retaliation and reflect and just go pure tank using Warcry to taunt (and lower his pets health by 33%). Playing around I can get my health comfortably above 30k, my armor over 3k, and my resists to 89% across the board. I can have a slew of gear enabling circuit breakers to have more than just Menhir’s will and Turtle Shell. The following items in my inventory all have their own circuit breakers and can be equipped at the same time. Guardman’s spaulders, Mercy Amulet, Meat wall, Fateweaver’s leggings, Tinker’s ingenuity, and I could have Empowered Lichguard on weapon swap if needed. Plus my buffs like Field Command and Mog’s pact would help my teammates and their buffs and skills would help me. Replace messenger of war devotion with tree of life and healing rain would never stop. With all this I would have enough circuit breakers to never simultanously exhaust their cooldown and I would just rotate through them as Mog and his pets lit me up like a Christmas tree.

After 5 deaths and a LONG time trying I raised the white flag. I smelled trouble the minute I saw he was casting spells. So, in ultimate solo the best we can hope for is a stalemate. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, pretty much. Or we wait for specialized items in the future that will allow us to have high resists which will keep us alive.

hello can you share savegame pls?

Way behind the times, but there’s one from me on page 22. I say behind times because I’ve optimized my character from what I had before (also, damage has gone up on my new build, whereas the build has stayed the same in the file shared).

I have been playing hc with my friend for a bit now but I realized something mildly annoying. My character is lvl 70 and is fairly poor as shit. I want to do runs of something like obsidian throne but I get so much exp doing one run that I would outlevel him very quickly. What is the efficient way of getting better gear in this game?

I also noticed you made like a relic progression thing for items…Is there some awesome way of getting blueprints?

Treasure troves (dynomite chests) are your best bet at the moment for blueprints (especially blueprints), gear, and crafting material to make gear such as legendaries at the blacksmith in tyrants hold.

Static troves can be found in shrine of forgotten god and hidden hill area in act 1.

These to my knowledge are currently the most efficient. Bring your dynamite.

There is a sort of ‘sweet spot’ regarding farming in this game: When you are running an area where the highest monsters/bosses are about 10 levels below you, you won’t receive any experience, but incur no penalties regarding monster drops. Those cut in for mobs 13 levels below you.

It really depends on what you’re after, though. If looking for rare crafting materials, aether shards, currency and the like, this is perfect. The item drops will be of the mob’s and area’s level, however, and appear a little ‘meh’. Especially higher level Elite and Legendary items will probably be out of reach (maybe with the exception of act 4, Elite, but then you are close to 85 when doing sweet spot farming). I usually sell most stuff I find this way.

Once again many thx for the lvl guide, and btw would you be able to to create an offensive version of this spec for people that dont play HC?

Finally managed to get my warder to 20k base health and my resists at an average of 84% while checking and testing various faction gear. While doing so I stumbled upon the blade-ward tincture. One way of dealing additional damage. I’m still clueless how to get my warder to do massive damage to 100k. Can this be done with non legendary gear? Haven’t checked out the updated guide maybe there’s info there. Harvester handguards with it’s 400% additional retaliation damage at 10% should really help but it just never procs for me. I know because with our build we can play the game with page 3 of the defense-retal stat window open without the fear of dying. Ha ha ha.

When Squib said this build is stress free (almost) he wasn’t kidding. It’s true. Next on my list of to do’s are to get nemesis status from Cronley’s and Death’s Vigil - the mostly ranged based guys.

thank you for the tips on farming guys.
Can you elaborate on the hidden hill are in act1?

edit: oh and how do I tell what lvl the zone and monsters actually are? That is probably a dumb question but monsters in zones seem to have their levels adjusted on mine.

I finally found a solution for my problem that i have at lvl 40 with ranged and caster mobs. I choose to side with the Kymon’s Chosen. One of first quests that you get from them is to kill someone in Fort Haron. The quets is "Enemy of my enemy. This was, for me, impossible to do just because i couldn’t kill the damn mob.

Pure caster, not a single melee attack. And then I don’t even talk about all the other caster mobs running around there. So after a lot of frustration I went on my lvl 35 witchblade to blow of some steam. And lo and behold there was the solution. He uses the gun “Slime Bolter” with venom tipped ammo. I instantly transferred the gun over to my warder and Boooom, byby bloddy caster mobs.

If yo dont have slime bolter just take any decent gun and stick venom tipped ammo on it. Enjoooooooy, i know i did

Great guide! I’ve been working towards this for a bit and now im finally level 80. I’m playing with some friends so together we have access to lots of the items.

I actually have all the items in your BiS so far! I’ve been thinking about the other slots but dont havent found any real perfect matches. Its super hard to weigh tankyness and damage output at that stage. I prefer a bit more active playstyle so i usually try to max damage. Still got 17000 hp and stuff, so its still pretty tanky. On hands and feet i go Voidsteel gauntlets (Or Blacksteel Gauntlets that just dropped) and Golemborn Greaves, both for good survivorability. And Golem boots gets quite nice retaliation once hit.

Thoughts on that gear setup is that some resistances are a bit low… Especially Bleed and Vital resistance are low for me. Low as in ~70%ish. Your roll on +20% bleed resistance on your relic is a real jackpot! =)

There’s a lot of advice through the forum here in conversations regarding SC characters as oppose to HC characters. With SC there’s no official guide but the HC version has a lot of flexibility, the SC version even more so.

It’s been my experience that hand guards don’t show in your character tab because they are strike per strike basis. I’ve read elsewhere that any skill that doesn’t last over time won’t show up in the stats window.

The hill can be reached under the bridge in act 1, and my bad it’s actually called hallowed hill. Here’s the link and how-to:

As far as lvl zones, this just comes from experience. You’ll start to recognize their level caps the more you play.

Actually I just turned that relic in for Citadel, kinda bummed I didn’t make another one for crafting first as that bleed resist was nice.
