I’ve been playing Grim Dawn for years, enough to know how I like to do things with any given character… I’ve experimented with a lot of different combos… I think the warder is my favourite so far… but I have to say… I’m a little lost when it comes to Attribute Points and Devotions.
The build is heavily lightning based, so spirit will help with damage… but its also got a lot of physical damage. I’m currently sitting with 38 unused points and am starting to feel the strain…
As for Devotions I am kind of feeling around blindly… trying to get as much extra Lightning damage as I can, Ultimately I want Spear of the Heavens (20 Blue, 7 Red… top left corner)
I wouldn’t go for spirit so much since you are a melee character and thus need to hit aswell - cunning could be useful in that regard.
I always recommend the tortoise constellation and since you have no heal in your build a few constellations to do exactly that might be nice aswell ( Dryad, Behemoth, Tip the Scales, Chariot of the dead, Tree of Life, … ) If you are using a two-handed weapon Kraken is a must-have imho.
Do you want some comments on your skills aswell?
At the very least I would recommend you to max out Heart of the Wild for the big HP-bonus.
Sure any comments would be appreciated, and yeah I will probably do that. most of the rest of my points will prolly go to maxing out those soldier passives for the survivability. Kraken huh? that’s an idea…
I don’t think Oak Skin is worth it at all.
Is there a reason for picking Veterancy and not picking Storm Surge?
Instead of Veterancy I would rather put the points into Decorated Soldier.
That was my mistake… I have full storm surge >_< And I plan to get veterancy (still some points to spend after what I already have planned) As for Oak skin I figured why not… Since its just a passive… and the first point in the skills seem to do more than subsequent points. If I need the point I can always retrain it.
That’s the point. I don’t quite see the use to it to be honest. The Constituion is rather useless, the HP regen is mediocre at best and what’s left is the lower physique requirement which is … not that usefull either I think, if you skill that far into Shaman and Soldier and have Skills like Military Conditioning.
There’s so many different ways to go with devotion it’s pretty maddening.
With a primal strike warder there’s a few that you should really consider-
kraken (you can skip the phys dmg points but i’d grab them all)
viper for resist reduction
Tempest and/or spear of the heavens if you need more damage
rhowan’s crown is always nice
Other than that just fill out your weaknesses- if you need resists get those, if you want lifesteal (which synergizes fantastically with primal strike) go revenant, or if you need health there’s plenty of constellations for that.
The main thing about primal strike is that it’s crazy good at clearing rooms but not so fantastic at single target damage. In particular it lags way behind the other popular warder build - savagery AA. So focus on buffing damage as much as you can IMO and fill out whatever else you need. Devotion is like a grab bag - you sort of just round out your character with whatever you don’t have from gear or skills.
